Title: Cost of watching Match Play
Post by: ye3hawp0ny on February 06, 2009, 04:07:06 AM
Does anybody else think that the PBA is charging a ridiculous price to watch Match Play for 25 dollars? Kinda steep I think.

The need to hire someone else to run their website.

It's pathetic.  It's slow, they update the standings 1/2 hour or more after the fact, or at times not at all.

I respectfully disagree. $25 for the opportunity to see the best bowlers in the world (at least on that given week), in the most exciting part of the tournament, with limitations on attendance, may not be a bargain for everyone but doesn't seem excessive to me. Especially when alot of people never or rarely get the opportunity to see the PBA live at all. Selfishly, the Tournament of Champions at the Mohegan Sun casino/arena in CT was the highlight of the bowling year for me and my wife and we miss it tremendously. The PBA used to come to Bradley Bowl in Windsor Locks, CT and now goes to Norwich, CT. I'd pay much more than $25 for one of the best days of the year. In contrast, it's going to cost $36 for me, my wife, our son and his buddy to bumper bowl 2 games tonight, just for the bowling. While it'll be fun, no comparison.

$25 isn't that bad at all.  What do they charge for a baseball game at your local 'pro' stadium?  What about a basketball or hokey game??

Now....figure in the distance.....how close are you to the action?

And please.....don't say you can't compare them.  If that were true, why is it that you pay and arm and a leg at a concert for front row....versus a lot less for balcony.

I agree, $25 to me is a deal considering you are watching pro athletes..

Compare that to a basketball or hockey game where you will NEVER be able to talk to them or get an autograph like you can at any PBA stop..

You can sign up there/read about what it is.

The feed isn't great, but it's manageable most of the time. Sometimes though, it makes me want to break something.

It'll be like when PA knocked Mika off the show. It'll run like crap for now, then you'll get a good 1.5 hours in only for it to cut out as PA/Mika shoot the 10th frame, deciding who gets on the show.

Almost bad enough to break my headphones.
