I think he is better than Rob Stone.  He calls the washout a washout, doesn't wait for Randy to call it for him and knows bowling.  Rob just makes things up as he goes along.

Nice to have someone on there besides Randy that knows what he is doing.

Is it just me or does Randy seem to love that Dave Ryan s on there today?

Randy I think is missing Rob a ton.  They just seem lost!!! But I like Rob Stone and his new views on this game we all know.  Turkey has prolly been used since the 50s and hambone is new an exciting. Our team on thursday nights scream it everytime someone gets one!! Love Rob Stone and Dave Ryan needs to go back to what ever else he was doing!! They should have got Carmen Salvino to take Rob Stones place...

Totally understand your thinking and it is great to have different points of view, but they have been using the term strike for 50 + years too.  Should they change that?

Great to have fresh perspective on things, but he should be more up to speed on the bowling lingo and the knowledge by now.

Don't hate him or his ways, just prefer Dave Ryan

I must agree with Krakken on this one, I prefer Ryan over Stone. I like both of them but Ryan just seems to have more bowling knowledge than Stone.
Why did they replace Ryan anyway?

I have no real problem with Stone (I forgive the fact that he knows little about the game because his energy and fresh terminology is entertaining), but on the other hand, is Dave Ryan really that bad? Seriously? Dave's understanding of the game is light years ahead of Stone's (point for Dave), Randy has pretty good chemistry with both of the guys (wash), and Stone's energy is light years ahead of Dave's (point for Stone). Seems pretty equal to me. And before you all go and criticize stuff like "60 feel to success," don't give Stone a free pass because all he does is make up corny catchphrases and explanations to hide the fact he has no idea what's going on from a technical standpoint.

Sometimes, I wonder why 90% of you people even bother to tune in on Sunday. Do you tune in to watch the bowling, or do you tune in to hear award-winning commentary? These guys are there to call the action, and for the most part, in their own unique ways, both guys pull it off without being awkward with their partner. For my money, that's good enough, as long as ESPN continues to include bowling in its broadcast lineup. Would you prefer they have no commentary? Get over it.
