dave ryan= worst tv announcer

this guy is awful.  a three year old kid would be more exciting.  espn needs to find a replacement.  randy pederson does a great job but ryan's performance just makes it hard to want to watch.  maybe they should get bob costas or something, problem being is they wont spend the money on him.  but they seriously need to replace "and 60 feet to success for..."  that is one of the worst calls ever.  here is an idea; chris berman.  could you imagine a back, back, back, back, gone call or a he could go all the way.

Yeah right, Chris wouldn't be caught dead near a bowling match......i mean they even make fun of it on NFL sunday countdown....no way they get him.

BTW, you do know that Dave isn't a bowling announcer.  He's ESPN's errand boy....covers the "off" sports, like ping-pong, the little league world series, bowling, etc.  The stuff not many people watch.

Regardless how bad he is I would bet anyone on this forum would love his job and take his salary!!

He's not the worst bowling announcer, he's tolerable. It could be a lot worse, you know- remember Jim Kelly???

That guy who's now on TBS football on Saturday night should have been kept with Randy on the broadcast team.

My guess is that ESPN wanted a younger audience (Dave's in his late 30s IIRC)so they wanted an announcer who can identify with younger viewers.

Every bowling announcer is forever going to be compared with Chris Schenkel and Bo Burton- those days are gone FOREVER (even they weren't perfect- especially Bo)

That could be true..........Or, they just used him because he isn't a bowling announcer, he does all their "off" sport things like I listed before.

We already went thru this last year.  The 60 feet to success thing wears thin.  The guy is really a hockey announcer.  Would have thought PBA would have found somebody better this year.  I think they may have their hands tied with ESPN.

Baldo on the telecast would be a great color guy.  Randy does a better job than most.

Dave Ryan is a lot better than Jim Kelly.  Okay, I know that's damning with faint praise, but really, he's not all that bad.

That said, I couldn't believe my ears when I heard that "60 feet to success" line again last Sunday.  It's not possible that he hasn't been told a hundred times how annoying that is!

I never heard an explanation for why they (ESPN or the PBA) removed Ron Thulin from the broadcast team.  He was the best! Maybe he was offered a better gig?

On edit:

Oh, and Chris Berman can go screw himself.  I wanna jump into the TV and strangle him and the rest of those washed-up morons every time they make fun of bowling, and basically tell everyone to switch the channel to ESPN2!

Bring back the ESPN days when Denny Schriener and Mike Durbin did the telecasts.  Randy Pederson thinks his air time is a stand-up comedy bit and Dave Ryan doesn't know spit from spat about bowling, and it is glaringly obvious on the air that he doesn't.

sounds about right, well when you're up against nfl football it makes it tough, and thats why i tivo the bowling shows and watch football on the other tuner.
