Regional Pattern 1
« on: May 14, 2007, 01:55:58 PM »
I'm going to bowl some mini sweepers this summer and I think they are going to be using the regional patterns instead of the national patterns. The schedule shows regional pattern 1 is what is supposed to be used tomorrow and I wanted to see how some of you guys approached this pattern. If you could give some advice on what equipment you use, where you play the lanes, and what kind of player (power, stroker, etc.) you consider yourself. Thanks for any advice

Jason,  I don't have all my notes from last year with me, but from what I remember about Pattern #1 was:

1) You could play out on wood.  Usually enough friction on this surface to play the gutter.

2) Most of the time, we played in, 3rd 4th arrow and waited for the track to break down.  Scores were usually medium to high.

I will get back to you when I get my notes from home.

I bowled 2 regionals last year on this... one on older Anvilane, one on newer pro anvilane.  I'm a higher track stroker that likes to play down and in.  For the most part I played around 5-7 board with a little swing to the gutter.  That shot held up on both surfaces for 8 games.  I had more recovery from the gutter on the older surface that had more friction, but a little more hold on the newer surface.  Guys with more hand were playing 3rd arrow to start and moving in.  You can play pretty much anywhere and have room to the right I think... with less room to the left.

I primarily use my Vapor Zone pin above fingers (5" to pap) with the MB at 60 degrees, box finish.

Thanks guys, I'll probably take something that'll allow me to play out and play in depending on were I have the best reaction.
