Dick Weber Open pattern????
« on: January 16, 2008, 04:31:26 PM »
I realize this is probably their own special pattern, but does anybody know if it resembles any of the regular PBA patterns? Whatever it is, it sure does have a LOT of people struggling and scratching their heads. Anybody got information on this pattern?

Think of it like this:

A normal pattern has a shape, kind of like /TTTT\.
Whereas the Dick Weber Open is more like /\/\/\/\.
Very challenging.

Rumor has it they are not using the "strips" pattern this year.  The lefties dominated this event last year so they went to a flatter 39 foot pattern.

I made reference to Mr. Action Jackson in the Nicknames thread.  With scores like his, maybe he should change the name to 'Inaction Jackson'.

Anyone know why Angelo withdrew after the 23rd game?  Hope it was not a thing where he just quit knowing he had no chance to make the show being that far behind.

It is not the strips pattern this year..  It is more flat (1:1) than anything..

WRW did has always bowled well on strip patterns, so whatever they did to the lanes this week messed him up.

I'm not a big WRW fan, but quite honestly, I don't remember him ever struggling like this.

I think this particular performance is gonna light a fire in his you-know-what, and watch out for the next couples of weeks.

He's had some pretty good success lately on flat patterns like the US Open, so that alone doesn't really explain his lackluster performance.  Could be a lot of things, the injury bug certainly seems to be going around this year.

Not true! The majors and the old school formats are not automatic cashes for the exempt players.
