They just pointed out a funny thing that Kelly's mom said.  They weren't taking anything away from how she bowled.

I know Kelly's mom - she definitely was not taking anything away from Kelly.
I'm sure it was some sort of inside joke... Her mom has supported her through her whole career - a more positive mom doesn't exist!

I didn't hear the comment - I thought she said "I'm not taking your (something) away" - but I could be wrong.

I have to agree with Scolai on this one.  Of all the things to say knowing you are on national television, making a remark of turning a prestigious trophy into an ashtray is the best you can come up with?  Be like saying the Stanley cup is a bed pan.  Lacks a little decorum and brains or else she dont think much of her daughter being a bowler or something or some kind of hang up of some sort.  I mean how many people have had a parent or loved one with them when they accomplish something of that magnitude and the mom or dad or loved one makes a remark like that.  I mean when a golfer for example wins the Masters, I dont see the parent or the spouse come out and say we can use the Green Jacket as a dish towel.  Its just weird if you ask me because she apparently had no grasp of the moment and what was done and what it meant.

 Have you not seen the NBA commercial on ESPN about the trophy being full of guacamole and nacho cheese dip?

 It's just a trophy. I'm pretty sure Kelly won't let her mom turn it into an ashtray.

I don't agree with calling anyone names or your use of language when referring to the ???????? TOC trophy, it shows a complete lack of class on your part.  I myself was not expecting that comment and rewound it once to make sure what I had heard but it definitely did sound like ashtray to me as well.

Congrats to Kelly and good luck in the future.
