At that level, any miss of any single pin in any frame is going to fall back on the bowler, unless there was an extraordinary circumstance (i.e., shoe sticking horribly and the player hits his leg, etc.).
Williams made a critical mental error, and you could call it a choke if you like. The difference between his and Barnes' missed 10 of a couple weeks back is the scenario is different -- same thing when a kicker misses a field goal on the game' opening drive compared to missing it with 30 seconds left in the game.
My question is why is it bad to point out the obvious? Even the best gag on pressure sideways from time to time. No, I surely couldn't do any better than these guys do but deflecting criticism when it's warranted is intellectually dishonest.
Scroggins is a perfect example. He has choked out a bunch of single pins in the past but he got that bugaboo fixed this year and has two titles because of it, and deserves a ton of praise for his efforts. Just like Barnes deserved praise for playing against type on the Shark pattern and winning when everyone else was looking like us amateurs.
