Discover Card Windy City Classic
« on: November 23, 2006, 04:01:47 AM »
I'm gonna make a prediction and say the scores this week are gonna be higher than last week. For the PTQ you had to average 240+ to make the round of 64. Through 3 games in the round of 64 4 guys shot 800+, I wonder if it's the Scorpion pattern playing easy or it could be that the pin carry is off the charts. Hopefully Jeff Carter can elaborate on this. I believe he shot over 700 for his first 3 games.

I see Danny Wiseman is leading after 7 games. It would be cool if he was using one of the balls I sold him!!

Scores are way up after the first block.  A 222 average is only good for 55th place out there, yikes.

Go Danny.  Picked him up this week because I needed a 10th and one of the guys in league said he liked him.  Put him as a starter and blammo!, leading qualifying in a big way.  I've had guys on the show for three weeks now, PDW and Jaros one week, Mika the next week, PB3 a few weeks ago.  I hope it continues.

1 ) Hawthorne Lanes has an older Brunswick Anvilane surface, with a lot of built in friction. I dont think it would matter which pattern they run here, scores always seem to be a little on the higher side

2) Pin Carry at Hawthorne is severely above average

3) and most importantly, and read this very closely, we are talking about 63 of the most talented bowlers in the world ( with me being 64th !!! ). You give these guys a little free hook and they will light it up.

The transitions werent easy this week, so those of you that insist on calling high scoring tournaments "house china", come on out. Just because scores are high doesnt neccessarily mean that they are easy. You might just gain an apprectiation on how good most of these guys really are

BTW, i truly appreciate the nice comments and words of support i get from these boards. Believe me, during times like these its nice to hear from people that care and for that i thank you all a great deal

I still can't get over Ryan Shafer's series of games.

256 300 300 259.

ON a PRO tour shot!  I believe changing lanes also.

More and more bowlers minds are becoming conditioned to the possibility of big numbers!

Again SPOT ON! I bowled in a PBA Shot leauge at Hawthorn Lanes last summer and averaged 179.8. I bowled a similar leauge in another house at sunset lanes in waukegan. Sunset Lanes in waukegan are 1 year old AMF synthetics that play very slick compared to Hawthorn Lanes. Sunset I only averaged 165 for the summer.

Already made two shows and just missed a couple others...gonna be a good year for Jack.  Makes that Pro-Am I bowled with him even more incredible!

Thanks for the insight Jeff. Your tournament info is awlays fun to read. From what I can see when the scores are this high it revolves around pin carry. When most of the field is carrying the house it's gotta suck for those who aren't and what makes it worse is that not much can be done to correct it. But great week anyways Jeff. Im hoping you make a TV show and take home a title this year.

Yeah everyobdy learned the jedi mind trick this week.

The qualifyier thru the tournie averages were 20 pins higher.

Funny how everyone will forget the mind trick the next week.

Carter had it right the exempt guys given some room and great carry will light them up.
