Walter Ray Williams' 2nds?

This is from his web site, which hasn't been updated since 02-03.
So figure how how may 2nd's he had over his last 5 titles.

He has 36 second place finishes to go along with his 36 titles

These stats are really outdated as he has tied Earl Anthony with 41 titles if I am not mistaken. Took WRW longer, but he did tie him.

Earl has 43 2nds. Gives him a total of 84 for top 2 finishes.
Was wondering if WRW has that many 2nds?

Earl . . .
Won the PBA Natoinal 6 times.
Bowled 176 games on TV, posted a 222.778 average.
Made top 5 in 114 of 369 tournaments he bowled.
Also 7 senior PBA titles, in a short stint there.

*What did Earl do between squads, while others were out getting something to eat?

Earl went back to his room, would lay on his back, and visualize making 60 good shots for the next 6 games. If (in his mind) made a bad shot he would start shot one and start over again. Sometimes he could do this in 20 minutes...sometimes it took much longer. Try doing this and see how long it takes you.

Duke,

I met Earl in Wisconsin back around 84-85 at a casino opening. He was there signing autographs and he signed one to me and we talked a bit about some of the guys I had bowled against. Don Mccune, Gordy Baer, Al Bruder, Rickey Sajek, and others.

He was a nice guy and was into golf then. We talked about the courses we had played in the area and non-bowling. He died way to young.

I watched Earl bowl back in '76-'77, when ever he came into the midwest.
He watched me bowl one time, gave me some pointers.
He was some kind of bowler.

I haven't seen Al Bruder's name in a long time.
I use to  bowl at C&J (Seno's) in Bellwood, in a league with him in the early 80s.

if i'm not mistaken walter ray williams, jr., has 41 pba national titles, 41 second place finishes, and 41 third place finishes. if i'm wrong someone please verify this for us.

It really makes you wonder why more bowlers don't try to mimic Earls or WRW style?  You don't see any monster revs between them.  What you do see is accuracy.  Accuracy is king no matter what!

I thought Earl had quite a bit of revs for his speed and a very heavy rolling ball.

I don't know if Earl would have been happy living after the terrible fall I understand that led to his death.

Also...a serious question...Earl Didn't eat all day when bowling?
