How many exempt pro's do you think comes onto Ball Reviews?

Jeff Carter is technically exempt although not bowling this year due to injury. He'll bowl next year. He posts quite a lot.

Chris Johnson, who used to be exempt, has posted here. I've heard Eric Forkel does or did at one time but I've never run into him here that I know of.

I'm not aware of any others, but other posters might know. If there are a lot of exempt players that post here, most must do it under aliases. I hate that; I wish more would join up. We're a much more fun crowd here than the PBA.com forums.

But no moderation <unlike PBA> so I doubt many tour players want to see that kind of interaction with no moderation.

PBA.com isn't the first thing I think about when I think about "moderation." If PBA.com considers itself "moderated," then they've got a different definition of the word than I do.

There are two guys on that site who probably have 20 usernames apiece and attack players unmercifully. Only once every few weeks do any of those usernames ever get turned off. They show up an hour later with one of their other usernames, and I've seen one of them blatantly say, "My username xxxxxxx just got banned, but I'm back."

I'm a site administrator for a college football forum that gets probably 20-100 times the traffic of PBA.com and we ban more people in a week than PBA.com does in a year.

As long as you stay off the Miscellaneous-Non Bowling forum here, you don't have much to worry about.

David Leverage, who is also outside the cut line at the moment, has posted some reviews. I just found one by accident while looking for something else. I have no idea whether he's posted recently, though (review was from 2002/03).

At least they try Jess.

Here's another great thread of bashing.  Has this been discussed enough?  http://www.ballreviews.com/Forum/Replies.asp?TopicID=188157&ForumID=92&CategoryID=5

I'd think most tour players don't want the grief as to why they don't post or don't have the time.

Jess, i'm sure there's a few on here that don't let it be known.  I know Tim Mack was on here at one time but can't remember his user name.  This was a few years ago.

I post outside the classifieds here RARELY. Thats the only reason I use this site, to buy/sell/trade equipment. Its either the classifieds or the Beginners Board, trying to help the beginner bowlers with some problems they are having.

This is the first time I have gone outside the classifieds/beginners board in quite some time. This site is pretty much a joke, except for the classifieds section.

Yeah a real class act Mr. Authority is.  One of the problems with bowling in a nutshell.  Just one but it is a big one!

You'll be hard pressed to find a forum anywhere for any kind of sport that isn't full of people who don't know when to shut their mouth.  The Internet brings out the idiot in people.

Explain that to me? I didnt say the PEOPLE are a joke, I said the SITE is a joke. You put words into my mouth. A majority of people I bowl with say the same thing, that the site overall is a joke, but the classifieds are great for buying/selling/trading equipment. Most people on here are good people to deal with, I have yet to have a negative transaction.

Exactly how is this site "a joke?" I would love to hear the justification for that.

The only forum that has a consistent problem here is the non-sports forum. Newsflash: That's true of virtually every sports site that has a non-sports forum. They all turn into religion/politics bashfests, and/or bring out the mentally unstable and the wards of modern chemistry. If you stay off the non-sports side of the site you'll cut down on 99 percent of your problems.

I'm only on three bowling sites -- this one, PBA.com and the USBC's site. This one is a good bit better than bowl.com and it's so much better than PBA.com's forums that there's no comparison.

As for the statement, "This site is a joke among the real bowling community," if that's the prevailing attitude away from this site it shows what kind of problems this sport has. There's no room in bowling for elitist attitudes and given the traffic this site gets, if the "real bowling community" is comfy playing playground games and blowing off this many people at once in a my-thingy-is-bigger-than-yours fight, then there won't be a "real bowling community" much longer.

Here's the bottom line: Everyone on this site who carries a USBC card is no more or less important than anyone else. Period. You can disagree all you want but you'll be wrong.

But that is what the "Misc-non-bowling related" board is for.  You don't have to read that stuff.  Some of us who do post on that board get irritated on it by some comments once in awhile & then shoot some back & maybe irritate others.  I guess it's a forumn for stress relief,LOL.  But we can also go on the other boards & read, learn & post some contributions as far as ball line questions, wrist supports, cleaning & other stuff we've used.  The PBA guys can still offer advice if they want & not go on the misc boards.  But anyway, that's just my opinion.

I'm not disagreeing with that; I'm saying it's the only board that has consistent flame wars, but that's the same way it is everywhere. If someone is going to call a site "a joke" and the non-sports forum is part of that, then every site with a non-sports forum is a joke -- because most all are that way.

However, I still haven't heard what he thinks makes the site "a joke." If it's not the non-sports forums, it must be something about the topical forums, but the topical forums are all informative and people are mostly well-behaved.

Sure, there are the random idiots who start or respond to threads from time to time, but show me one that doesn't have that problem. Even the vaunted bowl.com has that issue from time to time.

That very same video was posted about and roundly slammed on none other than PBA.com's General forum.

The site I administrate is www.tidefans.com. It covers college football but in particular, SEC football and especially University of Alabama football. I've been editor-in-chief there for 10 years now. We have about 20,000 active membership accounts.

I like Ball Reviews.  I think it's a very informative bowling web site.  Sure there some garbage that get's posted from time to time but for the most part it's pretty good.

Now I can understand some of the exempt pro's may not like this site because of being critisized in the PBA threads.  That's part of being a PRO BOWLER!  You take the good with the bad.

I will say this, if more of the PBA players were like Jeff Carter this site would be top notch.  Jeff Carter is an exempt pro and has helped many bowlers on this site.  He doesn't get paid to come on here and answer questions.  He does this for the love of the sport.

Take a look at WRW.  I know a lot of people don't care for him but at least he takes the time to answer questions on his site.

A lot of prople get down on Chris Barnes but the guys done a lot for the game of bowling.

The PBA would probably be in a better place if more of the players were in touch with their fans! Like Jeff Carter, WRW and Chris Barnes.  I should also include Danny Wisemen because he's posted a lot on PBA.com forums.

Good post Chitown.  And these pros don't have to post their real names so they don't get all of the pm's about stuff they don't want to have to deal with.  I am surprised Jeff C. has posted his real name.  Maybe the people on here aren't as bad as we think, LOL.  But any way.  I like this site too.  I've learned a bunch, not just politics & religion, about bowling since I've joined.  Thanks to anyone who has answered a question for me & others on this site, PBA or just another league bowler, LOL.

You are being way too critical. By being a member of this site, what does that make you?

Like everywhere, there are some good people on this site. I must say, I have received help from the guys on this site every time I have asked.

When I want entertainment, I go to the non bowler's segment and there is always some idiot there to argue with.

Seems to me that you take yourself too seriously. Like others, I am still interested to know what led you to make your statement. I need someone to vent on right about now.
