F bomb...
« on: November 16, 2008, 04:41:18 AM »
Sound to anyone else like after Rash picked up the wash out he dropped it right into mic?  I rewound it on DVR and I'm pretty sure it was what it was.

Last time I checked, sports weren't competed in an office.

Rash should not have dropped the f-bomb on TV. Even if it doesn't bother you, it bothers someone else. It's a black mark to the sportsmanship involved in the game, and it doesn't make the sponsors all to happy either. If there weren't rules against it and people just did it willy-nilly, the sponsorships from a lot of companies would be dropped.

This is a Professional Bowlers' Association...and it that is the key phrase: PROFESSIONAL BOWLERS. This is a professional event, and should be treated professionally. Rash should be fined. 25% is a huge amount, and a bit ridiculous.

I will say this: the f-bombing and various other curse words have been used more frequently as of late, and it's getting stupid. They need to stop that now, before it gets any more out of hand.

All that being said: Do I use it? Heck Yes. But I try not to use it when I'm being watched close enough for it to reach anyone else's ears...especially underaged kids.

Do we all use it? Mostly. Should we? That's up to personal preference. Is it necessary? No. Do the rules need to apply to everyone? Yes sports professionals included.

No swearing means no swearing.

Thank you.  My 4-year old watches the show with me, and I don't want him picking up that language from a PROFESSIONAL BOWLER.  He'll pick it up soon enough, but Sundays at 1:00 (Eastern) should be a time I shouldn't have to worry about that.

Then maybe you should switch the channel off of the NFL game when the network gives the close up of the head coach who just had a BS call go against his team.  Or maybe switch the channel when an NBA player gets a technical and both he and the head coach give the referee an earful.  Maybe they should turn the mike off when some prissy tennis player is out of challenges and thinks the linesman has made a bad call.

These athletes are under high pressure in tense situations against other performers who at the highest level, bring it week in and week out, something we as non-"pros" know absolutely nothing about.

So, please don't hurt your knees getting down from your high horse.

Everyone seems to be using this "they do it in other sports, but you're not outraged about that" excuse.

Umm...I don't think it should be going on in any sport. Unfortunately, this is not the NFL forums, so I don't get on here and comment on Shannahan dropping the F-bomb.

I think the FCC ought to fine anyone swearing on TV during a professional sporting event. It's unnecessary.

Yup that's exactly who he is.

They even made a commercial to honor his one upness...

And regarding this thread... I don't know for sure he dropped the F-bomb but if he did he will get fined, again.  You commit the crime you pay the fine, it's the rules the PBA has set.  If some of you don't like it, too bad.  You're not part of the PBA so you can keep dropping all the four letter words you'd like.  Unfortunately for Rash, he IS part of a professional organization with rules.  If he doesn't choose to follow them he pays the consequences, pretty simple.

What Sean rash said was inappropriate. If you do not agree with that then by all means bring back kikking the ball returns, pounding the telescore and flipping the bird at single pins left up! These are suppose to be proffessionals, not just in bowling performance but in edicate , setting an example to all bowlers out of RESPECT for the SPORT...

Sean said the word UNDER HIS BREATH as he was sitting down.  Most likely not a single person in the live audience heard it.  Unluckily for him, he was mic'd live and most of the viewing TV audience heard it.  This incident is hardly comparable to kicking ball returns, pounding telescores, and blatantly flipping the bird!

But still against the rules the PBA has set, correct?  He knows he is wearing a mic.  Point is he was wrong, no matter how you want to justify it.

I was simply discrediting the ridiculous comparison that was made.  I was not defending or condemning Rash's comment.

I've got better and bigger things to worry about, the economy, my 401k, the next 4yrs, etc etc etc. Quit being so darn critical every time someone bowling on tv has a slip up. They are making a living doing what they love, you people need to realize that. Put yourself in their shoes, if you were that pressed to have to perform week in and out to make a living, you'd more than likely drop a few f bombs of your own when things didn't work out your way. If it's such a bother, either turn down the volume on your TV, or change the channel to NFL football, because god knows I've NEVER heard an NFL player cuss on national tv..... well, at least not today!

Pretty sure it slipped out. He wouldn't do it on purpose, probably just forgot he had a mic on and got caught up in the moment. TV lights and cameras and the crowd, most likely just slipped his mind while thinking about how he screwed himself over prison style.

No, I'm way bigger than that guy in the commercial.  Plus my hairstyle is better and obviously I'm a better bowler and athlete!

That was obviously a slip out of frustration.  He made a bad choice about how to play the lanes on Sunday and I think his line choice messed up everyone that attempted to play in the rest of the day.  Bowler's are people who make mistakes just like the rest of us.  GET OVER IT !!!!!
