PBA Regional Tour Question
« on: May 23, 2011, 07:56:16 AM »
Debating on trying the regional tour this season or possibly next season. My question is that i had my card for a year in 2004 but only bowled in 2 tourneys. Im wanting to know if i rejoin, would i still be considered a rookie and be in running for Rookie of Year? Is there a min amt of tourneys you need to bowl in to qualify for that?

I would suggest you look on the PBA's website under Resources and then rule book.  If you need any clarification, contact them directly.

10.3.2 Harry Golden PBA Rookie of the Year Award. The Harry Golden PBA Rookie of the

Year Award will be determined annually by a vote consisting of selected media and the entire

membership. Any member in good standing among the top five (5) in PBA Tour earnings and points

among rookies will be placed on the official ballot. A member will be considered a rookie if he or she

competes in at least three (3) PBA Tour tournaments within a PBA Tour season or the season in which

he or she competes in their seventh PBA Tour tournament, whichever comes first. Participation in a PBA

Tour Qualifying Round (PBATQR) event shall count as a tournament bowled. The Harry Golden PBA

Rookie of the Year award may not be awarded at the discretion of the PBA

You will also need to consider the cost of getting some new equipment, since Radical and Seismic are not product registered companies and I don't think your Viz-a-Ball will be legal either, since Jack Daniels is a company that also isn't product registered.

I know i have to decide on some equipment. Im leaning towards Hammer or Track right now. So according to the rule, ill still be eligible if i return. Cool. Guess i start my training then since that is my goal. The only way to become the best is to bowl against the best and hopefully i do well.
