That rocks if you live in the Detroit area.

I understand the cost saving move, but I'm sure that the results of the pre-taped events will be splashed all over this website before the events are televised.

It takes all the fun out of watching if you know who won in advance. (Hint to whoever manages the PBA's Xtra Frame site...don't put who won the tournament in the link!)

This is the worst idea the PBA tour has ever had. Your going to know the winner long before it is aired if you like it or not. The idea of taped bowling is horrible, especially for so lon. This idea would only be cool if they added more tournaments to the tour. We need more stops!

Wonderful.

Seven additional events to add to the growing "spoiler" epidemic.

Why not simply rename the tour "The Detroit PBA Tour"

I would think the amount of gate and pro-am entries would be way down.

Obviously those must not be much of the operating budget.

And I wouldn't want to be bowling well, lead a major and then have to wait 3 to 4 months to bowl the TV final.

Just wondering, why Detroit? I know that Taylor Lanes and Thunderbird are very respected centers, but isn't Detroit one of if not the most effected area's of the United States due to the economy? I can understand the reasoning, but I think a better location should have been implemented.

Maybe because Detroit has the largest membership in the USBC. Therefore making it a great spot, at least as far as bowling goes.

Detroit has more bowlers per capita than any other city and had the largest USBC membership numbers last time I looked, by a pretty well-sized gap.

Good point. They do have the most USBC members per organization.

So I guess the PTQ's will be the same each week. I wonder how the league bowlers at the repsective bowling alleys feel about this. I know I would be absolutely furious. As a professional I would be upset, I think the pro's realize that the ability to revive the sport is in their hands, as they interact with the fans, and can stimulate bowling in the hearts of the people that need it. I dont the PBA will take much praise for this move.

Does this house not have leagues year round? Where I bowl our summer leagues usually run right into our winter leagues or we only have one week off.

I guess we will find out. . . my guess though is that the PBA will not let anyone else bowl in the facility while the pros are bowling. I know this is how it has been in the past.

There is so many bowling alleys in the detroit metro area they are basically stacked on top of each other. I am sure everyone will get to bowl some were and I sure some poeple will make a big deal and B!$@H about it, such is life.
On another note im sure the 2009 masters champion John Nolen is happy about this. Its like 30 minutes from his house.

Or maybe he won't, because maybe one reason he wanted to join the PBA was to get out and see the country?    Also to be fair, Taylor and Allen Park are more like 45 minutes south of his home.

If the PBA is looking at cutting costs it is not a bad move to do. They don't have to move across the country for each stop. They can set up shop in one area for awhile. I am sure they could rent out houses or get a huge discount on hotel rooms for the time they are in the area. It could save the players some cash as well. Have to wait and see how it works out.

The South 24 of Thunderbowl is known as the arena. Until just a few years ago it had standium-style seating that could accomodate probably 5000 people. I haven't been in there for a while, but someone told me that they ripped out the seating and put in a nightclub. It was great for watchiing the All-Stars, scratch leagues (Men on Tuesday, women on Wednesday) that enticed the best bowlers in the area to show their skills.
