2nd Greatest Lefty ever on PBA tour
« on: October 28, 2008, 11:11:41 AM »
I am throwing Earl Anthony out there as the greatest lefty ever.
It's hard to dispute that, 41 titles later.

I'm watching some Youtube videos of Mike Aulby and Parker Bohn III and I can't decide who I'd rank as the second greatest lefty ever.

I lean towards Parker, but Aulby won more Major's and was so good in the clutch, beating Parker for a couple of title's even (1998 Masters, 1996 TPC).

Let me know what you guys think and throw some more names in the discussion.

If you haven't guessed already, I'm a lefty myself.

And Dave Davis was the first to win 6 in a single year!

(I have no idea).

Just thought I'd throw it out there!

I am a little young to ever see Dave Davis on TV, but from what I've seen on Classic and Youtube, I can see your arguement.
Great form!

Juggernaut,

This is what happens when one relies on memory--it is often faulty.

For some reason I was thinking Parker had amassed over $400,000 in one year first--maybe it was not all PBA official earnings--I'll have to do some research.

Thanks for the stats.

Well, Scroggy's gotta be in this discussion also, LOL!!  Seriously, at this point I would say Aulby & BohnIII are pretty even w/an ever so slight edge to Aulby.  Bohn wins another major & a few more wins then he would maybe pull ahead.  But Aulby beating him in majors has to get the nod.

My vote is for either Patrick Allen or Parker Bohn III.

I don't think I could decide between Aulby and Bohn. They are both so amazing.

I also agree that Patrick Allen throws a great ball and is a great bowler, though I wouldn't put him up there with these guys yet.

Couch is an animal. I have to think that the advent of reactive equipment hurt Couch's career. If the PBA was still using urethane, Couch and Robert Smith would each have 25 titles by now, if not more.

RE Dave Davis..From what I have seen out on Classic...doesn't compare to how powerful his form was in his 50s(when I believe he won two SENIOR MAJORS also) I think!

I don't mean revs either.  I mean higher revs than his Classic days of the 70s and rumbling speed...like near 20 or so off the hand.

The word power stroker comes to mind and in person one could see with his perfect free arm swing and level high speed release how he could take some lane conditions right out of play.

Actually very very assured when competing also!
