Title: Frawley, simply wow
Post by: APheLion on February 22, 2008, 11:37:57 AM
from the scores, what a consistent player! i believe he rushed himself again in the last frame leaving the 3-6-10 for another try to the perfect score

watch out for this guy
--------------------
When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

He threw 2 300 games during the tournament. I saw him use a gravity shift for 1. Nost sure about the other. He has some really high scores then seems to have a really bad game but is a great bowler from what I saw in person.

Local guy runs out his shots almost the same way (walks backwards to the right, and hops as the ball hits the pocket, sometimes accompanied by a hand slap).
Last year he went over backwards over the ball return doing that.
I did not have the pleasure of witnessing it first hand, but I am told it was funnier than helll, and it could not have happened to a better guy.

Coaches mostly now.

Youd have seen him coaching Jason Belmonte at the last World Cup when Bill Hoffman won the final.

Very nice genuine guy. Did quite a few coaching courses with Tim Mack around the world also.

Very good player.

Met him when he came over to Dagenham, England to play the World Masters a few years ago.

Nice person too!

Based on what I heard from watching the telecast:

Frawley is an Australian, former coach of the Korean national team, current coach of the United Arab Emerits team.

Came to the States to watch the tournament, wasn't planning on bowling in it.  Only had two balls, no slacks, no bowling shirt, was talked into bowling in the tournament and had to get a few new balls and some clothes for it.

Is great friends with Jason Belmont.

After the first match Schafer (spelling?) congratulated Frawley on his performance and said "it was great to meet you you're a great guy."

Frawley definitely had fun even if he didn't do so well, but then again no one really did.  You could see that no matter if he won or lost he was genuinely having a great time and that's something you don't see much anymore.

Watching him was a thrill.

It's bowlers like him that make people root for the new guy to win.  No expectations whatsoever and yet was like a kid in a candy store with an open checkbook.

After seeing all the love (apparently deserved) in this thread for a guy who shot 150...I'd feel horrible about myself if I were Chris Barnes.  There would seriously be no less than 3 threads bashing him.

Not all bash him.  I don't think I've ever had a bad thing to say about him in a thread (might want to check that before I say it...Hmmm....) but comparing the two isn't right.  I don't think I've ever seen Barnes as happy to be on a show as Frawley was in the show.  That's the difference.

Oh yes, I'm absolutely not defending Barnes, just saying...if I were him I'd feel horrible about myself and probably do something to change it.

Timotheus... Frawls was over in the US for USBC Coaching seminar and he did plan on bowling in the Tournament. might wanna get your fax straight before posting. Been Australian he has only been offered coaching the United Arab Emerits team. not the Korean Team. But in all he is great for the sport and good for australian bowling.

Actually, Randy Peterson and Mr. Hambone both said that he wasn't planning on bowling in this tournament about four times during the match, that he was the coach of the UAE team, had no dress pants, and only had two balls, so if anyone is wrong here, it's either you or Randy Peterson.

I also believe it is important to get your fax straight because the person receiving the fax will get a diagonal looking scan on a piece of paper and it is quite annoying.

I had the pleasure of meeting Andrew last February when he was involved in the MackAttack Clinics over here in Blighty.

It was a pleasure to be coached by Tim, Andrew and the whole crew. These are people who love bowling and love giving something back to the sport. I have to admit I hadn't heard of Andrew before I met him and it was great to see him doing so well by making the show at a Major.

he is simply great.
dont look at what he bowled.
(chances are if any of us were in that situation we probably would have bowled worse)
he was funny, polite, and just happy to be there.
he didnt have blood on his mind.
just, excited.

congrats on a great finish.

He was over here for a coaching seminar and the High Roller in Las Vegas. Got talked into bowling the PBA tournamnet and I bet he is glad he was. Had no dress pants, no shirt with his name on it and only 2 bowling balls when he entered. Great story. Kinda like Roy McAvoy from the movie Tin Cup!

I sure his friend Jason Belmonte who won the Mini Eliminator in Vegas was able to help out with expenses!
