Oh ya, I can't wait. I've been every year in Dallas since 2000 when I got to see final round robin match play and got hooked after that. In 2002 I went to the match play and the tv show where Ritchie Allen won his first title. Then in 2003,2004 and 2005 I started going to the qualifying and the match play. The tv show isn't that great to me. But since I was disappointed when the scedule came out they didn't come to Dallas as the center changed management, I was afraid they might not come back to DFW for awhile. I was going to drive to Tulsa or Denver but changed my mind but I did go to the Motel 6 Challenge after missing it in my hometown last time around and went to the one in Lewisville and was a blast.

Irving AMF is an interesting choice for a PBA tournament. I would of thought the Forum in Grand Prarie or City View Don Carter in Fort Worth would be a better choice. In my opinion, this house in Irving is tougher then most any other AMF and other houses in Dallas/Fort Worth in general. It will be interesting to see players play deep on Pattern B. I wouldn't be suprised to see some bowlers attempt a hard right and in shot, and I think scores will be lower then most would think.

I made my prediction who will win the tournament before the season when we all made all kinds of predictions even though most of mine have been wrong, I still stand by it.
The show will be:

Danny Wiseman
Tommy Jones
Jeff Carter
Tommy Delutz

Danny Wiseman is the winner.

I am thinking about going, but only if a friend of mine makes it through the PTQ and to the match play.

I will try to make it up there Friday morning.

a lefty wins,..if they haven't resurfaced in the last couple of months, lefties will win. Topography will fry the right side,..lefties will be bowling on a much better longer lasting surface..Old wood lanes will give way to the lefties..

Just got back from watching the ptq, man it looked tough out there.. Only 16 out of 92 where + pins and for you guys picking a lefty to win, guess again. They had a tougher time than the rightys..

Dino bowled very consistant again and DJ Archer also made it. Thats 2 guys from the DFW area made it thru to the round of 64..

Jay Ashbaugh from the Austin area was also the top amatuer.. Way to go guys and good luck tomorrow..

I had the chance to talk to Wiseman, Couch, Delutz JR, Wes and a few others and they where all very accessable and friendly to everyone.. I did see WRW walking around but he just didn't seem to be as friendly as the other guys..

I said scores would be low but didn't think they would be this low! I know quite a few of these bowlers from the PTQ and they don't struggle to hit 180 often. Comination of the pattern and the house together is showing no mercy.

Just got back from rounds 1 and 2, here's my report:

Scores were low as I predicted, way more then I predicted. I thought first would hold around a 220 but I thought 32nd would be around a 207.

The house is hard and with that shot made rections guessworking. With the characteristics of the lanes that tend to play ok outside, I saw just that. There were several players standing right and getting a hard roll on the ball up the first-second arrow directly to the pocket. Most were standing around 30 out to 13. On this line if you got it past 10 it was gone. In fact, I had never seen so many washouts before.  After 2-3 only the pattern got ugly and players that were already playing inside were forced to stand deep to extreme deep. There was some good reactions around 5th arrow. Lefthanders didn't have much of an advantage or righhanders.

I also saw alot of missed spares. Not the the many corner pins missed but saw a few inside single pin spares missed including a 6 pin missed by David Traber and a 9 pin missed by a mile by Billy Oatman. There were alot of splits like big fours and other nice designs. Lots of light/weak pocket splits. One of the most interesting leaves I think I ever seen came from Round 1 when Chris Collins who was struggling and one of the ones that was attempting the "stand right, rev it hard from outside line" had a 2 count on one ball. He hit the 6 and the 9 pin and that was it! Rash nearly cracked up about it and Collins was pretty ticked off which is pretty normal for him.

I doubt there was any 300 games for a 230 was nearly as good as that today. Vandinker came very close and got front 10 for a 289.

Local favorites Chris Barnes was getting some cheers and looked good and even more impressive was Del Ballard who was getting alot of support from the crowd and bowled well and very consistant. Eugene McCune who was on the same pair was impressive with his outside line ball that was working well. I swear I think he throws the most powerful ball out there, even mor then T.Jones (who also bowled great). One funny thing was McCune was going back and forth between outside and hard line and deep inside and cranking with slower speed. He got 3 brooklyn strikes in a row on one game, that was funny.Chris Loschetter, O'Neill, Mike Machuga looked well.

My predictions didn't favor too well. Wiseman never got anything going all day, alot of over under, alot of splits. I thought he could come out firing in round 2 but never did. Who did make the round of 32 from my 4 picks was Delutz and Jones. Carter looked good at times and had a chance but didn't do so hot in round 2.

That's it for now, can't wait for match play tomorrow!
