Closely followed by Marshall Holman and Mike Durbin.

I missed the Burton/Holman broadcast for the ladies, but it almost had to be good.

Why can't we have this pair for PBA?

Who were the guys who used to do the tournaments that were shown on N.B.C.?

  I remember seeing them, but their names absolutely escape me......

   I love the way Bo gets in such a hurry to explain things that he calls pins by the wrong number and corrects it on the fly.  I think if I did that, I would be to embarrassed to even try to correct it and he doesn't even miss a beat!

We forget that Chris did the show 10 years with Billy Wellu before teaming up with Bo. But my memories of them are the fondest.

I wonder how knowledgeable Chris was about bowling when he started in 1965, I don't have a clue but I'll bet he got better over time.

I also remember CBS doing a few shows in the mid 1970's in the Summer. I believe Brent Musberger and Carmen Salvino were teamed up on one.

This was a best ball doubles tournament in Las Vegas. I remember Salvino doing an interview between matches and his false teeth started to fall out of his mouth and had to catch them.

I agree. Chris and Bo were the BEST!!  For the ladies, BO was good, but Marshall was good but there were better.  Durbin was good.  On the NBC shows Earl Anthony was real good!!  Jay Randolf was not good. I did not like him. When ESPN had the summer tour, I think it was, as Denny Scheider (spelling)as the announcer.   I thought that he was good! I grew watching Chris and Bo, then I would after watching a show and I would then go to the lanes and pretend to be Roth.  I had fun!!  I would pretend that I needed to double in the 10!!  I remember that Bo would also say, going into the 10, "We have a chance of a tie!!!"  Mike Durbin with his 2 minute training segments!  Those were the times!!

Yeh, Chris and Bo were the BEST!!

Personally, I liked Ron Thulin a alot. Not only a great bowling commentator in his short career with bowling but did an excellent job in college football. Jay Randolph was good too, and Denny Schreiner was terrific at too even though he came across like he knew everything he did a good job. But entertainment and knowledge value I rank Thulin and Randolph right up there. Even Jack Buck was great those Brunswick World Championship tournaments he did. Phil Ferguson was another great announcer.Chris Schenkel I thought was ok. A tad overated in my opinion but he wasn't annoying like Dave Ryan or Ron Stone.

my only problem with the team of bo and chris was that as time went on bo kept using too many old school descriptions and terminlogy as they refered to bowling balls, lane play, adjustments, etc. even marshall holman suffered from this a little. but overall, i think the team of marshall holman and mike durbin were the best.
