Good Show
« on: January 17, 2010, 04:49:03 AM »
Good show today IMO I liked the low scoring pace, seeing that these guys are human after all, Felt terrible for Wolfe when he missed the 8 pin.

Sean Rash must be getting tips from Chris Barnes out their. But I wish I made as much money in a week as Sean did.

Congats Anthony For StormBowler83's sake I wont type the last name.

But Man I was kinda pulling for Mike Machuga to take it in the finals.

c-system looked like junk for everyone that threw it today,

this was a tough pattern to play on
and the scores reflected that

good show though
I really wish they would stop showing womens finals though
they are just so damn boring and awful to watch

it's interesting to note that the show lasted over the 1 1/2 time slot yet they bowled thru a commercial in the first match. please bring back the pro bowlers tour on abc-tv !

good show.......except for the attempts at spare making. inexcusable for players of that caliber.

charlest i understand what you are saying. but, consider this if you would: yours truly has bowled pba regional tournaments in the past and completed the entire eight(8) game qualifying round without missing a spare of any type. not splits mind you. but spares. my skill level is not as high as the players on the telecast today. therefore, i expect them to make their spares. the ladies make their spares. the men should have.

They''''re bowling on lanes that were never used during the qualifying and the match play. Corrected - I learned they actually bowled on the lanes they used all week.

Their balls reacted so bizarrely. It was as if the oiled every other board.

Face the facts: those bowlers are the best. They don''''t miss by 1-5% in target, release and ball speed. That''''s why they''''re there.

So what happened to that pattern or did they miss spares all week?

i practiced shooting spares at great length when i was preparing for a regional tournament becuase i knew i'd be shooting more of them. if you use a plastic ball and stand in the correct spot and roll the ball at the correct target you will make your spare regardless of the oil pattern on the lane. this is what makes walter ray williams, jr., the best spare shoter on tour. even he's missed them......but he misses less than anyone else. i probably spent more time practicing spares than finding a strike line when getting ready for a regional.

Lane surface and oil conditions should not matter one iota for spare shooting.

Especially with plastic in your hand.

Any one pin miss with plastic is bad on any surface.

As for the scoring pace on the TV show...

They are pro's, they should be able to figure out the shot and execute. That doesn't mean they will score huge but should have a decent enough look.

I like watching the pros struggle and adjust as I learn nothing from strings of strikes.  Want to see how the pros adjust on the fly...but that is only me...

It was a good show and as far as spares go I believe 4 of those missed spares were single pins and pros should not miss them

i was there for qualifying on Thursday and the show today. During qualifying some of the scores were pretty high. I think the tv lights broke the lanes down quicker cause of the heat. Alot of players didn't migrate to where Machuga was until atleast half way through the 7 game block.
I don't remember seeing that many C-systems during qualifying. Rash was using an Avalanche Slide alot and was scoring well with it. Maybe just a sponsor thing...

The tv takes alot out of the matches and the women's match was better live. (I taped it and watched it again at home to see the difference).

When I was there on Thursday I don't recall seeing many single pin spare misses. There were a couple of 10 pins missed but no 8 and 9 pins. I think Rash was just mental and I don't know why Wolfe wasn't throwing plastic at his. Rash did autograph the Pepsi ball and it was given away to a kid...

Rash is really different off of tv compared to on...

Pretty much what I figured. That has always been my one pet peeve with Brunswick is that they always tend to force the newest ball down the throat of their tour guys when it comes to the telecast more so than the other manufacturers.

As far as lines, I can't believe Wolfe lost because it seemed like he had a pretty good look on both lanes. Oh well, should of used a white dot.

There are some balls that are just not cut out for tough patterns, and I think the C-System may be one of those. At least, today it was not.

As soon as I saw the ladies bowling on the condition they were bowling on, I thought to myself, "I hope someone on this show decides to throw Track, because that may be the only piece, able to provide carry on such a stingy condition".

As it turns out, I was wrong, since Nation changed her release to enable her carry(with Brunswick).......and LaCaze did the same thing, in enabling his Vibe to carry better in the last couple of frames!

Great show though!
