that caused them to have an extra match on the show today?

I kinda heard the story during the broadcast - but there's got to be more to it.

I think it went along the lines of Rash bowling the wrong guy in the position round, Machuga bowling the correct opponent...they discovered the problem after the games were completed, so Rash had to bowl another game against the correct opponent, but he already knew what kind of score he needed to make the telecast since Machuga's round was posted...so it basically gave Rash a second chance to make the top 4...which was why Machuga appealed the ruling and the extra match was added

there was an error in the scores for the position round... 1-2 3-4 were correct, but 5-6 should of been rash/devaney and 7-8 mccune and delutz. 8 frames into the the position round where rash was bowling mccune, and devaney delutz, those 2 matches were stopped, with mike machuga shooting 180. Rash was on 190 pace, in the 8th frame and gets to start a new match on the same pair, with 5 min of practice... he shoots 256 + the 30 bonus pins for the win and to go around machuga for the show. as they are explaining what all happened, they (the pba) make the show a 5 man step ladder instead of 4.

Ok, so I was watching Xtra Frame when the error occurred. Basically, the Xtra Frame guys had the correct numbers of total score and realized that when the PBA made lane placements that it was an error. The PBA had given Eugene Mccune an extra 20 or so onto his total pinfall, putting him over Sean Rash and ultimately making Rash, Mccune, Devany, and Delutz Jr to bowl against the wrong opponent. This was realized by the PBA in the 8th frame, and they put a halt to the two matches and start from scratch and bowl the correct person. At this point, Machuga was in the 10th and left a washout and had no clue how much pin count he needed to guarantee his spot in the telecast, and then it Rash, who was on pace for a sub 200 game now had a chance to redo his position round game, and knock Machuga out of the telecast. Advantage was to Rash here because he knew exactly what the numbers were and exactly what he had to throw to advance, which was anything over 255 plus the win. In the end, the PBA did the right thing and gave Machuga a spot on the telecast because they did the wrong thing with restarting the two matches.

Mum, Corey replied on the PBA boards that a bowlers scoresheet (they didn't say who) and the live scorer's sheet had the same score written down from the previous game, but was wrong. Being that it was on 2 different sources, they went with that score until they found the error partway into the next game.

Now I know they use 2 people behind the lanes, 1 to enter the pinfall into a laptop for the live scoring and another with pencil and paper as a backup, and also use the house scoring system. I'm not sure what happened with all that to get messed up.

They had a 15 minute delay between matches to figure this out, while the entire time the correct scores were posted online. How the hell do they not check the computers (that, I dunno, have the exact score on them)? So In essence, it took them 25-30 minutes to discover something that should've taken 30 seconds.
