btw im left handed.....

to me it just looked like he threw a few shots that werent all that great and all went high flush... made that shot look easy.

I thought the show was much better than I was thinking, knowing only 2 people that made the show.

Yeah he sprayed it around a little...but he broke them down just right to give him a great look.  The righties apparently didn't get on the same page...and train wrecked themselves.  Someone above said something about Belmo playing them wrong compared to Kim...I think Kim tilts it a good bit more through the fronts, so Belmo's ball was reading some early friction and "puking" whereas Kim's ball floated and had a good change of direction downlane.  If you looked closely at the blower 7/10, he got it about 4 boards right of where he had been playing down the lane...and it still got back to the pocket.  The other righties all left 2/8/10s or a washout when they missed wide at all.

I'm sure it was just the Anarchy making him look good since storm makes the best balls in the world......

Congrats to Gu for the win. Sucks people were ragging on him. Those exempt guys think that the purse should just be handed over to them I guess. Don't feel like they have to earn it.

Best show by far this year! Randy Pedersen's acknowledgement of pros calling Gu a hack was awesome. I gained so much more respect for Pedersen for standing up to these elitist pros/bowlers who are pushing a lot of bowlers away from the sport. I thought for a long time that Randy was kissing the pros backsides a little too much, but maybe now he's had enough of them too. And huge props for Gu for not letting them bother him and showing that on that day he was the superior bowler. He had one lapse in missing that 7 pin by a hair and kept his composure thoughout the entire telecast. He earned every ounce of that tile, nothing was handed to him.

There are plenty of great bowlers that never bothered with the PBA because they could earn more money elsewhere, Rafael Nepomuceno being the most famous, and he bowled when the PBA was at it's height in cash outs. If you aren't sure who he is, look him up, very impressive.

It goes to show that you don't have to throw the ball like 22 mph or be a hook monster to win a PBA event. Gu did a very good job being consistent with little adjustment even for being the lone lefty. I wasn't very happy about the "hack" comment made about him because Gu went out and did his thing and made all the other "elite" bowlers look like youth bowlers using bumpers. Maybe I should get a hold of Gu's interpretor and find out where I can get one of those glasses, lol.

But Gu got the job done, plain and simple.

Gu threw the ball well today, but he did get lucky at the end to win the title.

I was disappointed by O'Niell's whining about the lane conditions.  Typical these days, it seems.  Guys can't take ownership of their own bowling anymore.  Blame it on the wrong ball, blame it on the lanes, blame it on the guy who bowled ahead of you, whatever.  Bill, maybe you just didn't throw it well enough today to win.  That's the way it goes sometimes.

I definitely lost the respect I have recently gained for Bill O'Neill today. Did anyone else think it was hilarious that Randy reported Bill's "our only option is to sand it to 360 and come from the outside" at the same time Kim is using a polished Taboo inside? I tell you one thing, the "amateur" from Korea really made that Taboo look good today, but not O'Neill.
That was a great match, in all aspects. Sure, Gu got lucky at the end, so what? That's part of the back and forth we all see in many of the "classic" matches.

The right side was different from what was expected, but there was a good shot deep.  Belmonte started striking after going deep.  Also Kim had no problem striking deep.  It was just the wrong adjustment.

Congrats Gu.

Kim did miss his target way right on that 7-10.  Did not have to be a split, but thats bowling.

Well, I was able to watch the show and I don't really understand what all the fuss was about, because the guy bowled pretty well. Yeah, I understand he wasn't splitting boards but when you have pretty much everyone pretty much giving up after the first few frames, what do you want the guy to do? In the end it was the same thing as when O'Neill won with the Taboo...he just had the better ball and line.

Match 1: the guy missed 3 times, only 1 of which resulted in a strike.

Match 2: the guy missed his target 3 times, only 1 of them resulted in a strike. Nevermind that O'Neill had no idea what he was doing missing in and out all through the first few frames. So, he started with the wrong ball, then balled down and kept getting lucky with high flush strikes. Then O'Neill finally makes a finger adjustment, but was still going high pocket.

Match 3: the guy missed 2 times, 1 of which resulted in a strike. I have no idea what Belmonte was doing until he changed balls. It didn't help that like O'Neill he couldn't consistently hit his target.

Match 4: both guys seemed flawless until the end of the match when everything went crazy.

Overall, the guy bowled fairly well, the majority of his misses were only 1 to 2 boards off target. I guess my question is why weren't the righties playing that far right? And if they couldn't why was there considerably more oil on the right than left?
