I was in Vegas watching and I asked the same thing, expecting 50ft of oil. We asked Jim Tomek, who was there, and he said it was a modified Masters shot at 39 Feet of oil.

That is much more believable.

plus, did you guys see the crowd size? i mean, yeah, it's a bowling alley, but DANG! it was little! (and for a major, no less)

I loved the shot the year Norm and Randy competed and they played tight and scored high!

There is still people out there that think this pattern was 50ft.  That amazes me.  If anyone saw the video of Randy in qualifying, you can tell that wasn't the case.  If Tommy was turning it up pretty good and playing em inside 15 last year and this year Randy Pederson is swinging 15 to 5 on the same pattern?  Did Randy get superhuman powers while sitting in the booth?

BrunsRic even stated the pattern wasn't 50ft.

Ric said the pattern was 50 feet? look 5 posts up. Read it a little bit slower this time. For the love of god I posted the link to the actual graph from when they ran the tapes on the lanes. There is no question what the pattern was.

We mentioned this on the chat.  It's a different center this year.  The last few years have been at Mohegan Sun on specially-constructed, barely used (i.e., brand new) synthetics.  This year they're at a real bowling alley on a different surface and with different oil.  The lanes are well-used and they're a different kind of synthetics (I'm pretty sure).

Add all those things up and there's no telling how it's gonna play.

Wasn't it held at Red Rock Lanes? If so, that place can't be more than a year old, two tops. I would hardly consider that well-used, especially for synthetic. Did they buy their lanes used from another house?
