Barnes was tossing a Wicked Encounter most of the time.

Jones has been fighting several injuries lately and looked like he was having footing issues. Hard to throw it your best when you're just trying not to fall down.
Machugu threw it really good all day, but maybe needed to find something a little cleaner through the front part of the lane later in the day. Russell was the one who never looked comfortable. Yanked quite a few left and looked off balance on a lot of shots.
Hammer was the big disappointment. Neither bowler ever looked comfortable on the pattern. Track and Roto struggled early but improved. Hammer just never got it going.

Wow. Really? REALLY?

The event was actually pretty good television, the only thing I was tired of was every time Sean Rash got on the approach, they repeatedly referred to him as the reigning POY, if you didn't know he was before this event you surely knew by the time this event was over with. :)

I enjoyed it. Hammer disappointed me, but I was happy to see Robert Smith bowling again.

the doubles stepladder portion wasn't bad. but after the train wreck that was the single ball, only the diehards were watching. if the PBA wants to hook new viewers, they can't open with a confusing mess.
I was left wondering if the PBA intended the single ball rounds to look like a birthday party on the lanes. you had ice cream, nachos and booze in camera shot through out...

One thing that I have not yet seen mentioned and wonder if anyone else had the same problem I did: this was supposed to be a shootout between ball manufacturers with their own reps, but I for one never saw any segment or even minimal information on who was throwing what ball and how/why they laid it out. I saw more wall information and layout information on regular shows than this supposed battle of the companies... Of course, that type of information may have been more embarrassing than helpful for some, particularly Hammer. I really would lhave liked it though. I know that the casual Sunday afternoon bowling observer may not have cared, but I guarantee they wouldn't care for the rest of that train wreck either.
Just my $.02....

I liked the broadcast overall but I thought that this year's one ball Eliminator format was lame. It reminded me of this year's Chris Paul celebrity tournament. Last year's Baker format was much better IMHO.
Still, it is a good chance to see this Summer's new ball releases in the hands of PBA pros. Unless you're a Roto Grip fan of course. Then you got to see last year's Bandit and a two year old Rising Star being thrown lol.

The value of the single ball eliminator, like it or not, is the ability to get more bowlers involved.
I was a bit surprised with some of the bowler choices, but I guess that is more of a scheduling issue more than anything else. I was surprised that Ebonite didn't bring out the best female bowler in the world these days, Kelly Kulick. They had an additional roster spot they could have used and given Tommy Jones' injury problems that may have both helped them as well as showcased an important Ebonite asset. Also was surprised Storm chose to go with both Belmo and Osku while they have Norm Duke at there disposal.

I was also surprised that Brunswick did not have Parker Bohn there.

i was told by a storm staffer they took the top three in season points. kretzer did throw the edge the little he bowled. it was advertised all over the back of the shirts though. belmo did make the fire road look great, but what ball doesn't look great with his rev rate. lol.

I really liked whatever Fagan and Mika were throwing.
Jones looked like he should of stayed home, he absolutely no tempo and was totally stiff the entire competition.
Suprised to see D-Mac have so many issues.
Barnes was Barnes not suprising.
I didn't see all the shows, but I personally thought the best bowler of the series was Belmonte. Just had the right ball and the right line to get away with murder when he made mistakes which were few and far between.

They said Tommy Jones had a neck injury,it definitely showed, he didn't look like himself at all. They would have been better off having Kelly Kulick bowl in his place. My favorite part of the series was watching Barnes play the Walter Ray line.(Missiles up the five board!)

singles were sad
doubles were good
