Post by: earmite26 on March 26, 2006, 03:16:59 AM
The telecast hasn't even started yet and I guarantee you all you will hear about is WRW and Earl Anthony's record.  Yea it's a milestone but please GIVE IT A REST.  We want to hear about other things also.  Just my .02

It's a great accomplishment but diluted in comparison Earl Anthony's record

There's the link to where Earl's son Mike talks about the comparison of titles.

Not to take anything away from WRW, but...

Earl was the better bowler, but WRW is tied with him.  Those 2 titles weren't PBA titles at the time, so they shouldn't count as a PBA title know.  Yes they are masters, and for total titles, WRW still trails, but they were not PBA titles.  Apples to apples is PBA titles to PBA titles.

Nah then it will be "Earl only bowled X amount of tourneys"...WHO CARES. If I shot the record for most 300 games lifetime would you ask how many games it took me to do it? No, people just cant stand that their favorite lefty from when they were kids is losing his record.

I dont care for Walter Ray all that much, but I care for his detractors far less than I do him. Give it a rest---congrats to Walter on tying the OFFICIAL record.

Give Williams his due. He tied the “record”.  You guys are just as bad as those individuals  that didn’t allow Roger Maris's 61st homerun to count when he broke Babe Ruth’s record. Everyone looking for a loophole so Earl can still be the King. Guess what, the King is dead. WRW has tied the official record and that’s all that will matter. Earl was great for his time but now it is WRW time to rule. Earl may have reached his 41st title sooner but I believe the circumstances today are quite different than the ones Earl faced. Someone said WRW has evolved with the game (sport?) and how true that is.  Different ball covers, cores, lane conditions, and formats. Earl didn’t face as many challenges in his day. Earl was great; don’t get me wrong but WRW is on top of the leader board now.

I threw that like a league bowler...wait I am a league bowler.
