Himmler throws a shot left handed!?!
« on: January 14, 2007, 06:49:04 AM »
As far as i know, even on tour, if u throw a ball with your non bowling hand in competition, u r disqualified, if someone from the show, or even the tournament wanted to argue the point, i think they could take away himmlers payday & give it to the next places.

Im not really upset about him doing it, doesnt bother me 1 bit, but rules r rules, & it seems to me that he broke them.

Anyone else see it this way?

Shawn

This is news to me.  I think it is B.S.  It pretty much makes the split conversions I mentioned above impossible for a right hander.

This is by far the worst rule I ever heard of in any sport.

And it makes the corresponding splits pretty much impossible for a lefty.  Don't think they have an advantage, because for every 2-8-10 you leave, they leave a 3-7-9.  How often do you see lefties leaving (and converting) splits that would be impossible for a righty?

There's good cause for that rule.  Without it, there's nothing stopping you from setting a low average with one hand, then using it to bowl tournaments with the other hand.

It would probably be easier to learn to throw a backup ball at splits like that rather than throwing with the opposite hand.  I know several people who do that and are quite successful doing so.

I guess you are right.  I don't get splits often anyways (maybe 1 or 2 every 3 games.  The only reason my average is not higher than it is is because of the 10 pin.  And no I don't have a crazy hook where I don't use a thumb or anything like that.  My release is actually very VERY similar to Brian Himmler (was surprised when I watched the show this Sunday).  I just have a hard time hitting the 10 pin because I either have the ball hook at the end or go into the gutter.  It is pretty much why I bowled 256 the 2nd game last week and 161 the 3rd game (I had 3 10 pins in the 3rd game and missed all 3 LOL!!).  I also lost that game too.
