How did you like the new format?
« on: December 09, 2007, 01:11:45 PM »
I personally really enjoyed watching the 4 bowler match(even though we missed a few frames).  With 4 bowlers, there is a good chance that it will be an exciting finish.  Plus we get to see a couple of new bowlers with 8 guys making the show.  Did anyone else like the format?

Made it interesting, but I don't think they can pull this sort of format off live.  Not being live didn't really change the characteristics of the show, but I would like to see the entire match, not just 90% of it.

I really enjoyed it but there were some issues. Mainly the whole cutting off frames to cut down the overall length of the show.

I would like to see it again as it gave more people an opportunity and provided some great games.

I think this was not the new format; just the format for this show. I could be wrong. This was a 2 hour special. I do not believe the 1:00 PM Sunday shows will be 2 hours but the original 90 minutes. I assume they will go back to the new format: 2 semi-finals producing 1 final.

BUT I loved today's show; it was the most exciting bowling show I've seen in years.

I loved that format. Especially the first match. There was alot of intensity in the match to move on to the step ladder matches. The only thing would be to lenghten the show to show all matches and not cut off frames.. I think they should do it every week.

I loved this format! Gives the viewer more bowlers to see .. don't know if the BOWLERS like it .. if DEVANEY went all the way he would bowl 5 matches .. might be tough .. Allen only bowled one. Yes I did like it!

I know they are not keeping this format, but I would like to see them use it a couple of times in the future.  And I thought back in the 90s, they used to bowl during commercials(not 100% sure of that).  But I don't mind missing a few frames if it means seeing different bowlers.

I'd like to see it taken a step further since my favorite bowlers get eliminated by others in the round of 16 every week.  I'd like for them to show highlights of the round of 16 matches and then move on to a format like tonight but faster.  I don't need to see the loser bowl an entire game.  Show like 3 or 4 frames and then speed up for time constraints.  I'd like to be able to see like 16 different bowlers every week for a few frames, than the same people for 12 frames or more.

It was cool to see the new guy on TV, but was anyone else annoyed like I was about his shoes squeaking? I would hate to bowl next to that guy.

I had a couple opinions of the format used for the telecast.

First, I think the format would be beneficial because there is a better chance of seeing "underdogs" make it to TV. If you have a top 4 or top 5 format every week the chance that huge names will fill all 4 or 5 spots is higher than having huge names fill 8 spots. It is nice to see new bowlers on the telecast.

Second, I felt that this format was too long for me to watch. I found myself restless after an hour and a half. I know this isn't what you all think, but it is how I personally felt.

Third, the format seemed less interesting and more fast paced. There was no time for interviews to see the players reactions. Overall, I think the prior format is better. However, it is nice to be able to have this 8 person format once in a while.

while i like the idea of seeing eight players on the telecast and a two hour show i don't like the idea of skipping frames. i'd rather see a 1 1/2 telecast where we see every shot and every frame.

I liked the format, but I think that if they do this again that they need to use a different pair post the 4 man match.  The break down was ridiculous.  But it was great to see all those bowlers on one telecast.

I agree with Greg. Would much rather see every shot of every frame.
