How did you like the new format?
« on: December 09, 2007, 01:11:45 PM »
I personally really enjoyed watching the 4 bowler match(even though we missed a few frames).  With 4 bowlers, there is a good chance that it will be an exciting finish.  Plus we get to see a couple of new bowlers with 8 guys making the show.  Did anyone else like the format?

Loved the concept, really good to see Chris Warren on TV, it has been a real long time for him, he bowled a great game

I definitely want to see Chris Warren back on TV again in the next shows.  The guy still has it, and can definitely give any opponent a good run for the title.

I thought the four man match was too much and pretty boring. If three of the bowlers weren't so close in score and gave the excitement of all tying, I think it would have been a real lackluster. And KDawg, what do you mean by Rhino looking bad? I didn't see anything wrong with what he was wearing.

the pba and espn could do us all a favor and go back to "the way it used to be". a 1 1/2 hour telecast with the 5 man stepladder final. there was plenty of time for introductions, commentary, tip of the week or tech info, trophy presentation, interview with the winner, AND we got to see every shot and every frame. if it worked on abc and espn "back in the day" it would work now.

They could easily pull this live if stupid ESPN would give them 2 hours. I loved the format. The only thing is those 4 bowlers have such a narrow chance of getting the title but it was still fun to watch. It was a lot of bowling.

I loved the new format. I suggested something very close to this in a letter to the "old" PBA almost 15 years ago. They need to do something to get more faces out there and also bring somethe excitement of match play and qualifying to the TV finals.... this makes a step in the right direction.

I also enjoyed the show on Sunday. The match featuring 4 bowlers was exciting to watch.

Why not take the top 4 or 6 and have them bowl  a three game series for the title? All on the show would get more exposure and it would eliminate some luck from the equation, such as bad timing on transition or a bad look in the fresh. 10 min of practice, 3 game set, and a winner is crowned.

To me it makes more sense than a 1 game crap shoot after grinding through qualifying and match play only to have a bad look in the one game for all the marbles. Let some of the skill that got them there shine through and let them have a chance to recover from a bad game. 3 games is still short enough for tv yet long enough for a more deserving champion to be crowned.
