How does PBA Sponsorship Work?
« on: March 14, 2008, 08:24:13 AM »
Do the companies that put Money up have to pay the licensing fee as well?? so a company puts up 200000 + 50000 that seems nuts.  I say drop the fee and beat the bushes for sponsers.  Let the Pros whore themselves out to companies.

I'm surprised NIKE hasn't got into the bowling sport?  I'm shoked they don't make bowling shoes or balls.

I also don't understand why it's so hard to get sponsors for this sport.  Millions of people bowl!  Millions belong to leagues.  Where's the BEER sponsorship?

nike was involved in bowling and the pba for a three year period back in the mid to late 1980's. marshall holman and dave husted were among the players who had shoe contracts with nike.

Yeah, there has to be people out there wanting to sponsor.  I think the problem that they may be seeing is that the current TV channel they're on does virtually nothing to promote the sport.  They have the classic channel on at 11:00 showing replays, but where do you see commercials promoting upcoming tournys & what not.  They have a major network sister station that they could be promoting the sport on.  The other thing is you don't see Ball Mfrs. w/commercials advertising their balls even during the televised event.  I liked how they televised the Women's USBC tourny earlier this season.  They showed the each bowler's arsenal & what not.  Someone in another thread mentioned the PBA & USBC join forces.  I don't if that's the solution, but anything is better than the status quo.
