How much time does it take?
« on: February 09, 2007, 01:48:02 AM »
I was Talking about this subject to a fellow member ....How much time do you stick with a Quarterback before you label him a bust? As ive said earlier on a similar topic about my home teams QB in David Carr and his 5 years of shortcomings. Personally...I think 3 years is long enough to grasp a system....especially if the QB has started almost every game. What do you all think about the time allowment?

I would say that it matters on who you are talking about.  Look at Drew Brees, he wasn't doing anything for San diego, this is why they drafted Rivers and then he just blew up and starting playing great.

i've never discussed politics, religion, or my personal life on this website or in public period. you must have me confused with someone else. this is the "pba" section. i only post pba related topics here.

Usually, the guy is on his back looking up.  Houston needs to shore up the O-line.  Any QB on that team is gonna spend a lot of time avoiding a rush rather than checking reads.  I think Carr is a decent QB and, in the right setting, can flourish.

I went to High School with David and he is a great QB. He has had virtually NO offensive line for 5 years and has no time to throw the ball. He completed 68% of his passes last year which led the league by 3% (better than Manning, Brees, etc) and has tried to do what he can with what hes got. He needs 5 guys in front of him who will give him more than 1 second to find a receiver past 5 yards to throw to. Otherwise, a change in location would be a good choice (Vikes need a QB, Brad Johnson is done and Tavaris Jackson is not ready).
