I have to second turquoise's thoughts... no summer tour makes it just about impossible for someone to be able to catch Walter.

Bohn,Duke and Weber are 14 or 15 titles behind.

They are both in their mid-40's. If you assume that Walter is almost done because of age then they are getting close as well. They would have to win 4 to 5 titles a year to catch him.

Bohn and Weber haven't won more than a title a year the last several seasons. Duke has a tendency to get hurt.

Agree.

The only current player that I believe could have a chance of possibly catching Walter Ray if (and that's a BIG if) he keeps winning about 3 tourneys a year as he has been able to do for the last 4 seasons, is Tommy Jones.

But then again, Tommy (as talented as he is) is a power player and has already shown signs of having nagging injuries, which, unfortunately, do not bode well for consistency and longevity-therefore, I think his chances are very slim.

Other current players, such as Rash, Page, and O'Neil, are not clutch enough to amass large chunks of titles to get to where Walter is-they may win quite a few, but I just don't see them doing it abundantly and consistently.

The only bowler consistent enough to have a remote chance of doing it would be Barnes, and he would have to do better on TV and bowl till he's 50 like WRW.

Well the top two, i can think of is Duke and Weber, but they would have to get Uber Hot and win a bunch of titles in the next couple of years.

Besides that, I think Barnes could do it, but he needs to have better TV performances like someone mentioned, but his style is very smooth and not the herky jerky power player type, so he wont end up getting hurt too often.   unless he drops a ball on his foot again lol.

but besides that, i really dont see anyone comming close to WRW's in titles.

Nobody in the game today will catch him IMO. A guy like Norm Duke may be able to pass 40, but the fact WRW isn't done yet means nobody today si going to catch him.

It will be a young gun, but IMO a young gone who hasn't made it big yet.

I think with how often Chris Barnes makes shows, or has at least over the last few years he would have a legitimate chance.  I know Barnes is roughly 10 years into his career on tour, but the beginning of WRW career was very similar, a lot more 2nd's than 1st's.  If Barnes can just have a few tournaments where he wins that title match handedly it may very well get him started.

Then again the person that may catch WRW may not even be bowling on tour yet, maybe there's a young natural out there that is going to come up years from now.  And just remember, noone really thought anyone will catch Earl.

I will review his list of players:

Pete Weber is done. I'm sorry but he will have a good tournament now and then but fact it, he's never won the player of the year and never will. He's a great bowler but has never really had a great season. Don't be suprised at all if he isn't an exempt player after this season.

Tommy Jones is one of the best but he better hurry up. I predicted him to win POY. You actually need to make tv. It's near December and I'm disappointed so far. I think he's one of the best in the 00's decade.

Chris Barnes is one of the most consistent player on tour history but he doesn't have 10 titles yet. So that is out of the question.

Norm Duke is bowling better in his entire career. Can you believe that? Yes he is! His downfall? Injuries! He's not old but not young either and I don't know how much longer he will last. At least he will go out with a bang.

Patrick Allen. Nah...he's too old. I know he's only in his 30's but my point his he should have been on tour over 10-15 years ago and we would be having this conversation. He is good, one of the best lefties but I don't see him getting 40 some titles.

So no! Walter's record is out of reach. The only one that stands a chance on our list is Tommy Jones. But can he win multiple titles this season? Again, he better hurry up. Can he use a similar style into his 30's and his 40's? My concern is that.

If anyone is going to do it, we may not even know who he...or even she is because they are not on tour yet. In other words, may be a youngster out there that may be the next Walter.

If Rhino gets the right company in his hands, and bowls from week to week, he has a pretty good chance.
