Pete Weber has WD

They say he pulled a muscle in practice and has pulled out. Mike Edwards has taken his place and the extra points from 24th puts him inside the cut line!

Just kinda fishy he's in 8th and pulls out....first alternate available is Mike which saves his career.  From what I hear they used to be roommates....

I'm just irritated because this could have cost my friend his spot.

And your proof is what exactly?  Were they for sure roommates, or were they "maybe" roommates?  If he's hurt, should he continue to bowl and possibly destroy what remains of his career just so your friend can keep his spot?  Maybe your friend should just bowl better.  Seems you're ticked off and starting rumors when you don't know all facts.

well i heard it over xtra frame, pete went on live to clarify that he pulled a muscle when he was warming up and cos of the fact that there are many other tournaments coming up,he decided to save his career by pulling out, nothing of doing a friend a favour was his intention of pulling out

The whole situation was pretty crappy...and I'll admit that thinking PDW laid down on purpose was a stretch.  I'm glad that the PBA is doing the right thing.  I talked to Jason late last night and he confirmed they are in fact going to take the spot from Tour Trials...so as long as Monacelli or Wolfe dont' win he'll be exempt next year.

There are a lot of us that are HUGE Duke, Barnes, and Scroggins fans today...

Yea, Sterner has been in the cut line most of the year. He did what he was supposed to. Edwards didnt have the top 24 finish he needed---but gets it gifted to him (I know its a WD but no matter what, for Edwards thats a gift).

Hopefully for Sterner's sake the right things happen here.....

PDW withdrew from last year's U.S. Open as well.  However, that was after struggling with a pulled hamstring (I think) just to make it to the cash cut.  He isn't getting any younger and that is a lot of bowling for one week.  Even though the chance at 100 grand is tempting, possible permanent injury shouldn't be risked.  I am glad he clarified the situation.  I am sure he would have loved a shot at his 5th Open title, but it wasn't meant to be this year.
