Do you guys feel since Ebonites ONE has made the TV finals a lot this season that it's a for sure lock for ball of the year?
-
With all the TV shows and with the large amount of people throwing the One in leagues it should be B.O.Y. I have been only bowling about 5 years but I never seen so many people bowling with the same ball. Of course I sure some of the old timers can recall when they only made a few balls per year :-)

I would say it is up there but don't know for sure. If you are looking at league usage I have seen only one or two around the leagues that I bowl in. As far as out on tour that's a close call. Have seen the Strike Zone and Vapor Zone a lot as well. However P O Y I think TJ has a good hold on that honor right now.

TJ made the Big Time and other Ebonite balls look good last year but not many were sold in the DC area. So we can't base BOTY off of his success.
There are so many good balls that it's tough to select BOTY. Besides, what criteria is used to select the winner? Ball sales? People buy what's "hot" and what they hear will hook. Morich was the hot ticket last year with everyone having a S&A and then a TS&A but now everyone has a ONE. Quite a few Vapor Zones have been selling too.
I think BOTY should be based on a ball that can be used by a wide variety of styles, releases, surfaces and lane conditions. I think the Vapor Zone would have be a contender since it doesn't seem to be as finicky as the ONE in OOB finish. Yes, the ONE can be changed, but for a good percentage of bowlers the OOB surface isn't the right matchup and they don't consider a surface change before declaring the ball a dud. There have been several people who complained about the ONE not hooking until I recommended knocking the factory polish off.
-
I think it's a tight race between The One and the Vapor Zone.
-
I have the ONE for a number of months now. Early I had complained that it LOST it's reaction .. I WAS WRONG! I did not do PROPER MAINTENANCE and accept full responsibility! The ball is GREAT! I love AMF and think the RADAR is a terrific ball .. it was released in '06 .. for '05 The ONE has my vote for BOY!

The One is an Incredible Ball. It hits like a Truck.

Some of you don't seem to realize that by boty, we mean the 2005-2006 league season (september to may) not the calendar year.
I think its a tight race between the one and the vapor zone. Seein a ton of zones around here, reminds me of the days when literally all anyone threw were zones.

all i have to say is ebonite hammer is going to have the Player of the Year for the 3rd year in a row and the One is the best ebonite ball in years if not all time it is already their best seller and it hasn't been out that long. Yeah brunswick is making shows but there is a difference between making shows and winning titles and ebonite is winning titles

I find incredible that people can't hook the one with oob finish.

thank God its bowling night!
With the one in OOB I got literally 3 boards of hook with the ball. Hated it in OOB, so i took it to 1000 grit matte, absolutely love it now. The one is definately a top contender for BOY. I have both the one and the vapor zone, love em both. In my area the Vapor Zone is the ball to use for most people. They usually laugh at me when I say I have a vapor zone but instead im using the one. Oh well. Since I have taken the rough buff OOB surface on the vapor zone down to about 1000 grit im liking it alitte more.

With Ebonites success with the ONE and BIG ONE I can't wait to see what they make next. I also can't wait to see what the other company's try to do to compete with Ebonite's ONE and BIG ONE.
-
I believe it is the bowler more than the ball.
Not to mention that TJ has been using x-outs. What's up with that? Is it really a One or is it something else disguised as a One. Just like Brunswick used to do in the past or like Chris Barnes since he has switched to Columbia.
-
Similar to the Absolute Inferno last season which still occupies many a ball racks.
-
Look at how many Ones that have been sold this year compared to anything else on the market...case closed, BOTY lock.
-
The only differnce in the x outs that the pins are extremely longer then most of the pins that go out to the normally shops because normal customers don't need them. So i doubt that the Ones that every one on tour are diffferent because they would only have them for staffers but 2 non staffers have won titles throwing the one on tv and doubt their's are special ones
