Just replayed this video.  He had the smoothest bowling style I've ever seen.  Earl just knew how to play any lane condition, and made it look effortless.

To be bluntly honest, I didnt know Earl Anthony was alive in the late 90's! I thought he died in the late 80's! Well, learned something new. Thats the 1st time I have seen his style and my dad really followed his style all the way to the tee, plays the same line, same low backswing, same revs just not consistant.

As much as I loved and respected Earl Anthony, I think those who bag on Mike Scroggins should be doing the same about Earl. Otherwise, you're all hypocrits.

Earl could rev the ball...play 4th/5th arrow.
Don't know if Mike can, or can't.
Earl had a much better mental game than Mike Scroggins.

That's very true about the mental game. There are so many lefty strokers that get bagged on because of "ugly" styles, lower revs, etc... and all they do is win or at least consistently show up on tour. No matter the form from step one to the foul line, you still have to hit THAT shot. I think the baggin' in general needs to stop.

Dave just bowled Butch Soper on ESPN Classic today..Got smoked!
Dave is/was a tough Illinois bowler (in his prime).

Soper was smoked by WRW Jr. in the match....WRW threw the first 10 at Soper.

It's become really widespread...most of the people doing it have a clue and are kidding...or are serious, but clueless.

Chilli, you missed the point. It's not about the winning/not winning. It's about people maliciously criticizing bowlers for bad styles, no matter the hand, and all they do it makes more money and bowl better than any of us do. As ugly as Rick Lawrence's style may be, he still can roll on those conditions.

I agree with everyone baggin on Scroggins. Okay, so he dont have a TV appearance that we would love to have, okay, so he dont have the most spectacular approach to the line. Okay, so he dont have the revs most of us "leauge bowlers" have.

I dont like Mike Scroggins for 1 thing, the comment im sure we all know. As for the rest of the stuff, Scroggins is the hottest bowler on tour for the simple fact that hes made 5 tv appearances this year and won 2 of those 5. His style seems to be working for him all week long other wise he would never be in the top 4 almost every week. I respect the guys game just because hes on tour. Give him credit for once.
