Japan Cup show
« on: January 20, 2013, 09:05:12 PM »
What ball was Mika using?
I saw it was red and blue but don't see any ball like that under Columbia, Track or Ebonite. Internet pictures rarely give the true sense of the appearance of a ball.
The Oath is Blue, Purple and Red. This one looked strictly royal blue and bright dark red.

You should come watch ESPN non HD on my tv. It is like the 80s.

I dont understand how the quality even in standard def can be so crappy at times.

You didn't need high quality HD to see the gulf in talent between the Japanese and PBA bowlers. It bordered on shocking.

I don't know about that, necessarily.  Osku got outbowled...twice.  His shots weren't nearly the quality of his opponents, but because of his power he was somehow able to carry.

Bat - His fingers were wrapped with black tape, which made it look like a conventional grip. That was my first thought on his first shot.

Lol! Too funny, it was an Columbia 300 Oath, all it ever could be. He threw an Track 811 C/T then a Columbia 300 Oath. How could anyone think anything else with him WEARING A COLUMBIA 300 JERSEY!!!! REALLY! Really! Really? Apparently, over $1000 doesnt buy you as much high def as it used to.

If you look how much of the black tape disappeared when he put his hand in the ball made it look like a conventional grip! It looked like he had more than the tip in the holes! Just my observation!! Thanks

Bruce,
You got it right on the conventional grip. My wife called me to watch. We backed it up about 3-4 times to verify.

Nothing wrong with conventional grip. Glen Allison, the original Mr. 900, has always used it, and I believe Dave Davis did as well.

or seeing who needs to get a life.  Why does it matter so much what ball Mika was throwing?  You gonna throw it the same way as Mika next time you're on the pattern he was bowling on?  Doubtful.

Having been to Japan and competed against their National Team and several of their city all-star teams I can tell you they are extremely good and dedicated.  More traditional in their style but they can bowl.  AND THEY DO NOT MISS SPARES.  Unlike the ridiculous amount the PBA does.
