Lefties shut out
« on: March 15, 2007, 01:12:37 PM »
Only Scroggins made the cut this week in 25th place.  The bottom 4 were lefties, and the next highest finisher to Scroggins was 48th I think.  So I guess its ok if the lefties get shut out....I don't hear the righties saying anything about an unfair shot this week.

Even though Scroggins was the only lefty to qualify this week, if he wins we will hear all day Sunday from Pederson that he has the whole side to himself and should win because it must be "walled up" over there....... please!!!

What is the percentage of lefties on tour?  What percentage of lefties made the cut?

Just a little quick math, and I figure about 6% of the current exempt bowlers are lefties.  39% of all bowlers who start the round of 64 advanced.  So it is easily possible for all those 6% to not move on.

Now on the other hand, when 50% of that 6% make the TV show... that has got to tell you something.

No, half the bowlers in the round of 64 advance.  That's why the call it the round of 32.    This week, those 32 bowl 9 games of round-robin match play, cut to 16, and another 9 games.

6% of 64 is 3.84, so if three or four lefties made the first cut, that's "quota".  Only one did, but when your numbers are that small and have to be integral, it's not unreasonable for one to make it.  That the rest are clustered around the bottom of the standings is telling, I guess.

My bad, I was thinking the top 24 advanced.  Either way, even if 50% advance, there is no guarantee that any of the 6% will move on.

But honestly lefties are both a victim and a benefactor of their overall numbers.  The weeks where 3 or 4 lefties make the show, it is mainly because the shot laid out is good, but once broken down a bit becomes much more challenging.  Thus righties struggle more, because there are so damn many of them, and the shot breaks down rapidly.  And the weeks where the fresh shot is challenging, the lefties don't get the rapid breakdown right handers experience.  The righties wear a shot into the lane, and the lefties don't have that benefit.

That leads to the overall view of left handers in most houses.  A normal walled up league shot is as easy a shot as there is.  Left handers can play the same line all night, and not have to worry about 9 other people playing in, around, or across their line.

and um... lefties are the devil... the DEVIL i tell you!!

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one
