Just my opinion here........
« on: March 09, 2008, 06:14:01 AM »
I wish they'd interview the winner after every show, live. This guy just got his first win on Tour, and they just pan away and show him on camera. I'm sure he'd love a chance to do some thanking, etc.

I'd like to see a small interview with the winnner before they go off the air every week with every winner.

Just my .2 on it.

I agree 100%.. They could take out some of the other worthless stuff to leave 5 minutes at the end of the show for an interview with the winner..

When they have time, they do that. Most shows run out of time.

Thats not an excuse for me, they could cut out something to make sure they had a few minutes at the end for an interview..

when abc-tv had the telecasts they had time for introductions, 4 matches, tip of the week, the rest of the players who made matchplay, and a interview with the winner------all in the same 90 minute timeframe.

ABC was making money then - the PBA was a desirable show, sponsors were paying more $$/minute for the commercial time, so they could afford to give up a few minutes for interviews. Most likely the $$/minute they're getting for commercials now is so low that they have to stuff in as many as possible. They have already cut out some of the stupid stuff (trick shots, Randy's Q&A session, etc), and they're now down to just the bowling and the zillions of repeated commercials.

I could stomach all the Denny's commercials if THEY WERE NEW ONES! Lmao, I know they are the official sponsor, but man, rotate some new ones through out the day.

I really do enjoy the interviews, especially if they are for someone's first title or if they haven't won in a long time.  With that being said, I do understand the time management issue.  And you have to have sponsers and commercials for everything to work.

As long as it is a live event (and I want it to stay that way), then this will always be an issue.  Better to be on Sunday morning/afternoon live than 2:00 am taped.

Yes, and they would regularly bowl through the commercials.  Upon occasion, if the show did go over the allotted time, they would end their coverage so the "Wide World of Sports" could start on time, and we would not see the last few frames of the final match.  They would then "break in" to the Wide World broadcast with updates on the end of the bowling final.

Along those same lines, bowling would sometimes get squeezed from the other end.  If the preceding basketball game did not end on time, it would be shown in its entirety, and bowling would be "joined already in progress."

Yes, maybe ESPN has to forego an interview at the end of show now and then, but they stay with bowling coverage until the competition is complete, even if it means cutting into the pool, bull riding, or Scrabble coverage that follows.

The PBA is paying ESPN huge bucks to be on TV.  Any time over their allotted time cost the PBA lots of $$$.  A Rhino interview would probably cost like $5000 in over-run fees.
