Get rid of the women's series?
« on: January 24, 2010, 05:39:22 AM »
Since a woman has won on tour with the men, why not get rid of the women's series?  Why do they need their own tour?  There are no restrictions preventing a woman from entering a TQR.

Women still aren't physically gifted enough to compete against the men day in and day out.  Yeah it happened once.  There's a reason why it hasn't happened in the past and might never happen again.

EXACTLY.

Let them be PBA members. Let them join, let them compete, and let them win if they can. Kelly has shown it can be done.

She not only won today, but she blew the doors off their hinges at the PBA headquarters as she totally dominated the final match.

I say, let the PBA take the lead by allowing females to compete right alongside their male counterparts. No more lame womens series, no more PWBA thoughts, and no more excuses. Kelly showed today that they aren't needed anymore, so maybe its time to move ahead with co-ed competition at the very highest level.

I bet the PBA would drop it if the USBC wasn't so much behind it. I may be completely wrong but it seems to be the USBC's baby and they are footing a lot of it.

I think its ok to have but the interest just isn't there.. U only have wr or so women that bowl every week. And I think its bad that usbc and pba put up that much prize fund money because they don't hacve the entrIes to justify the prize fund

Alright, I'm against getting rid of the women's series. Bowling is too much of a power game, and most women just don't have the physical strength to overpower the men. Granted Kelly Kulick is extremely good, her rev rate is around 300...how is she supposed to compete with the guys who can generate much higher rev rates with equal or lesser effort?
I enjoy watching the women's matches, and personally, I wouldn't mind if they did a whole show for them. I think it brings alot more women into the sport.

Lets be honest neither tour is tearing up the ratings. If it stays on Sundays against other main sports like the NFL it will never make it.

I think from a money perspective it makes since to combine them. I'm not sure the womens tour pays enough for many women to earn a living and compete week in and week out. On the other hand joining the two will likely result in even fewer women able to afford to bowl and compete full time.
