Norm Duke's 3 successive 300s...
« on: July 27, 2006, 07:38:33 AM »
Anyone know which tournament he rolled them in, and what year?
They weren't rolled in a 3 game set...but were 3 successive games.

TIA,

over 2 rounds, north brunswick, NJ, april 10th 1996

While interviewing an anonymous U.S. Special Forces Sniper on his skills, a Reuters News agent asked the soldier what he felt when shooting members of Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Iraq.  The soldier shrugged and replied "Recoil".

That could have been 56 strikes in a row (11+12+12+12+9).  56 strikes, one spare, one open, and a gutter/foul.  A pinch under 95% strike percentage.

No, I don't really believe that either.  Nor the 9-in-a-row, 9/- 269 game.  Just figuring out how many strikes he could have thrown in a row with a set like that.  I couldn't come up with any other way to have a 269 game and keep the streak going.

I remember an advert for the Fire Storm in which Duke was congratulated for 45 strikes in a row. So I guess that answers it.
