last sunday... was that real shark?

i dont really get it, i thought on the shark, breaking outside 3 pin is proly washout, however, they all did break outside than normal

did they change the pattern itself or just it can happen?

Not only that.  But then lets add in the fact that they also get 30+ minutes to warm up on the tv pair before the telecast starts.  Take into consideration again the 5 minutes between games for commercials and commentary.  Before you know it, Wes has tossed probably 3 games worth up the track to create a little wall for himself.  Throw in a 220 grit Cell for 20-30 minutes up 7-8 and you got yourself a little trough to throw it to.  Notice how if he got the ball a little tight it held the line and if he got it out to 6-7 it wheeled the corner.

alrite, thx guys for the replies, heres what i experienced

i was bowling on a semi long oil, about... 42 feet very high volume. when i let the ball go, i feel that it moves to the right before starting hookin left. it was a really tough pattern. i was really impressed by big Wes, except the 10pin miss.

I was at the show in baltimore.. although the pros did get practice, it was not as much I thought they would get.  Wes certainly didn't spend 30 minutes burning in a spot.. they just didn't get that much time.  If I had to guess I would say he threw 23 to 25 shots at most.  That was true for all the players all the players on the show.

If that number of shots BEFORE each match is true,then you're talking almost 2 games before each televised match.Then add in the shots DURING the show.To me,that adds up to plenty of time for the pattern to break down and allow some of the ball reaction that we saw that would make us think that the pattern WASN'T the true Shark pattern.

The oil pattern was "real shark". I bowled in the PTQ for that event. What you saw was a combination of a couple of factors, mainly  the lane surface has a lot of friction but in talking to a couple of the touring pros, many of the patterns have been playing "drier" since the PBA tweaked the patterns in the off season. The lane charactaristics seem to show thru quicker.

I know for me, I had to use less surface starting late in the 2nd game as the ball was starting to grab in the midlane. Also, for me it was very difficult to carry the 10 pin with a ball that was tame enough to get to the pocket consistantly. That is not something that I usually have a problem with on shark.
