The PTQ this week, the top 5 spots had 2 amateurs in them. They took one amateur and the 6th place finisher, who is the PBA member.

That stinks!!!

BTW - congrats to Jeff Carter - way to go, Jeff - now run 'em the rest of the week!

wow, that really bites... i'd be ANGRY! but those are the rules.

funny thing is, there are so many amateurs out there that could MOP THE FLOOR with some of these PBA guys any day on any condition. i know a couple myself... problem is most of the guys who are actually on tour are there because they have the monetary ability to be there regardless of prize winnings or sponsorship. so many great bowlers are deterred from playing the tour because of the lack of cash backing them up. sad but true. i guess that's another topic for another time... LOL!

What about when the top Am is 10th place and they get a spot over the 4 or 5 Tour guys who finished ahead of him?

That happens more often than 2 Ams in the Top 5.

bob learn jr.'s commissioners exemption is for the keystone state championship---not this tournament.

I remember Matt Freiberg he's from central jersey. That does stink he comes in 5th but they won't take him into the bracket.

Freiberg won a high roller sweeper by 3 pins last year by shooting 294(pba washout) the final game. Freiberg has the monetary ability because his backer is jeff marks(former tour truck driller and now does pre tournament evalutions for pba tour locations). Freiberg will bowl more this year for sure especially since the us open is at carolier lanes where he works in the pro shop.
