Title: lefty show
Post by: that guy on December 08, 2008, 06:59:54 AM
I always get a big kick out of when the lefties have to bowl together and experience oil breakdown. I found myself laughing when Scroggins stated that the left lane was flying, then proceded to move 2 boards, lol. Yea......... big move. I also got a laugh when PA acted so baffled and stated "how could they change that much in 3 frames?" They change more than that in my league in 3 frames. If these guys had to move as much as the righties do durring a block they would quit bowling, lol.

Ah the classic "Lefty's aren't good because they never have to face adjustments" thread.  Its something I'm were given by birth, and as far as I'm concerned, nothing I'm willing to change.  Yeah, I only have to move maybe 6 boards over the course of the day, yes I have the highest average in my league, and I know that these two things happen to go hand in hand.  But it isn't always the piece of cake you'd think it would be.  If I go into a tournament and everything starts squirrley, it stays that way.  I find that in tough tournaments with low cuts, you'll find the lefty's leading the first two games, but after you guys have all broken down the lane you get some area, righty's take the show from there.  There is no such thing as breaking down a pattern at nationals and shooting extremely well for me.

Either way, I'm sure Scroggy and PA have more titles than you or I.

Heck I don't even know what to do if I can't score throwing the ball like a fluffer up the 3 board.  Moving, sheesh, not in your lifetime.  LEFTIES UNITE

BTW this is 100% correct.  When it comes to long heavier oil in a tournament the left side never opens up at all.  Those are the days I wish I was right handed.  So there are advantages both ways, and the argument will never end.  Good bowling lefties YAY!

There is no complaining or jealousy in this post, just an observation that makes me laugh.

FYI, in some centers moving 15 boards in 3 games is common. If you have never experienced this, it sucks.

I didnt hear anyone say they werent any good.

Just that when faced with the constant changing conditions right handers face all the time they seem stymied by it because they seldom face it.

Well Im a lefty, but I have 500 rpms, and have another lefty on every team I bowl on with around 430-450 rpms, so we burn up the lanes very fast, and moving 10-12 boards a night is very common. By the end of the night hes usually throwing his Razyr and Im throwing off the cap.

I don't sense any "jealous"(y) on "that guy"'s part.  Just an observation that I saw also.  I watched that match twice because my dvr only recorded the scheduled hour & a half programming (only thing I hate about dvr), the 2nd on classic & both times I shook my head at their comments, lol.  Welcome to more frequent lane adjustments.  Hopefully the lefties don't dominate too many more shows so we don't have to hear it.  I don't think I heard Parker say too much about it.  Parker is about the only lefty I enjoy watching at this point.  Rhino, if he gets back to tv will be okay too.

I have heard the same comments from right handed bowlers on show in the past, the one difference that they all have to deal with is the fact being left or right handed when bowling on tv the lights and extra heat cause the oil to break down much quicker than we would normally see in league bowling.

ya the last tournament i bowled in was 41' sport but they skewed the oil right so all the righties had to do was chase it in while the lefties were fishing for a consistent break point all day. there was 1 lefty plus the whole tournament. i personally went through 5 balls and about 30 boards in 6 games trying to stay close to even

I had heard the pattern now had a hang spot on the outside.

I really noticed it on the right...well for the ladies...not for Jurek so much.

But on the left there was a defined friction point....looking ALMOST just like the old Cheetah....comments???

You know you can set your DVR to record past the scheduled end of the show right?  Set it to record 15-30 minutes past the scheduled end of the show and you are good to go.

My DVR goes 2 hours long on all sporting events in case of overtime.  Pain in the azz if you record a lot of sports though.
