Let me get this straight......
« on: December 13, 2006, 09:54:07 AM »
The last exempt bowler gets $1,000?  Thats it?  Thats all?  So, as an exempt bowler you are guaranteed a measily 20k?  That is crap.  I can see now why there is talk that numerous guys are done after this season.  I bring home 3k a month and don't have the expenses they do.  I'm sure they all have some sort of sponsorship.

The PBA is dying.  It has been, but I think we are finally seeing the beginning of the end.  The Microsoft guys gave it a helluva run, but when players are talking about quitting, that isn't a good sign.

And by the way, show me ONE player that finishes in last place EVERY tournament.  Also, show me one exempt player this year that will make less than 20,000.  Thank you.

i have a question, what they call free agent are those bowlers who are not sponsored by the bowling ball companies right?

what happens to them with the equipment fees? since they dont get free bowling balls, i doubt they can drill some new equipments week in and week out so there are some disadvantage...

That's were Parker and the others that bring campers are a little smarter because they have everything there. Biggest expense might be laundry. With that you can carry your food with you and not have to eat out all the time. If I was able to be out on tour I would think about that.

I make close to 80,000 a year and I would quit my job yesterday if I had the opportunity to bowl on the tour and make the 20,000 minimum.  If the pros don't like it, then they can quit and let someone on that really LOVES to bowl and sees it as a PRIVILEDGE.

How long do you think that would last?  Are you married?  Could you even make a house/car payment, plus hotel, gas and food?

Please......

Hey genius.  They have over HALF THE YEAR to make other income.  Don't "PLEASE" me when you have no idea how to add.  20,000 for HALF A YEAR is not mcdonalds money.  Think about your accusations before you look even more stupid.

Shane,
Not sure your math is any good there either. Even if you make $25,000 - $30,000/ year on tour, before taxes and expenses, what are you going to make in the other half year. If you run a pro shop, you need lots of sales to make any kind of money, not guaranted. If you own a bolwing alley, need to drum up business, also not guaranteed money. And how easy do you think it would be to find a "real" job that lets you take off 6 months every year to go bowling? If you aren't one of the top bowlers, you aren't making a very good living. It's just the way it is. It is a shame that they are letting it get to this.

They wouldn't be on the tour if they didn't want to be. It must not be for the money. It isn't any of OUR business what they make. Let them worry about it.

If I would have known you made that kind of money, I would have charged you more for the ball I sold you.lol

I worked in a steel mill for 30 years and never made close to that kind of money. I would keep your day job son.

Let's all agree to disagree then.  If the money was as terrible as you all claim then the exempt players wouldn't be out there.
