My son and I talked to Pete after the 2007 event at the Six Flags in St. Louis. He was very gracious with his time. We talked to him just after he was done with the event and then we met him again in the park later.
He was very accomodating with his time and was very friendly. I can't speak about the old Pete. But the Pete I met was polite, had no problem giving autographs, and seemed like an okay guy.
Again, I am only speaking about when I met him off the lanes. He was not a "bad guy". I am only speaking of the one time I talked to him. He wasn't any of these things that people are saying.
He was gracious, polite, and friendly. If that does not fit into your view of Pete, I am sorry. He was all of those when I talked to him. And my son was so happy to talk to one of bowling's biggest names. Pete presented himself well. I know he isn't an angel and has done things that aren't representative of a role model.
I understand, but when I talked to him, he represented the PBA and himself positively. After Pete signed an autograph for my son, my son told Pete "Thank you", and Pete said, "No, Thank you!"
I know he has been less than positive in the past, but I think he is more mature and I can't say anything negative now. I am not picking favorites, but "Go Pete" works for me tomorrow.
