looks like it will come down to the voters for the POY. I think Tommy still deserves the award, but chances are he will not get it.

PA is the money and points leader, Tommy is 2nd in money (over $100K less than PA), and 5th in points.

PA has won a major, and finished 2nd in two others.  With TJ out, and PA moving on to the round of 8, it seems clear that PA is the POY.

And he deserves it, IMHO...

Tommy has 4 titals, is undefeated on tv. Is higher ranked on average than PA, is higher ranked on match play win percentage. They were basically evenly matched up untill this tournament, but with PA moving on and PA losing PA wil probably have a better chance winning POY honorships. But it doesent matter, Tommy has had a VERY good year and if he keeps it up will capture Player Of the year sooner of later.

GOOD YEAR TOMMY

AND GOOD LUCK AT THE ROLL TO RITCHES EVENT, if you get in.

By the way does anyone know what oil pattern will be used at the Roll to Ritches event?

Patrick has the higher average:

Average
Updated after: PBA Banquet Open  (3/21/2005)

Pos Name          Events Average
6   Patrick Allen   20    223.30
7   Tommy Jones     20    223.26

PBA Denny's World Championship

Finish  Bowler's Name   Average
1   Patrick Allen    230.92
17   Tommy Jones    216.05

PA also has 5 Championship Round appearances, to TJ's 4.

Last year, Steve Jaros won 3 titles, 1 more than anyone else, and he wasn't even considered to be in the running by most people.

But I agree with you that TJ had a great year, and he will be in the running for POY for many years to come.

Sorry bighook, the ONLY way TJ had a chance at POY was to win the TOC, which isn't going to happen.  The fact is, PA is ahead of him in just about all of the stats except wins, and the 2 seconds and a major make him the clear favorite.  So, when the ballot show up, PA will get my vote.
