Malott and Dexter
« on: March 07, 2010, 04:16:15 PM »
I thought Malott usually wore Etonics (with a different than standard heel)..

It looked like he was sporting the SST8s today on the show. Not sure if he has been using Dexters all year.

Did he get tired of waiting for Etonic to release a shoe with interchangeable heels too ??

maybe this might be the source of his "timing" issues?

I was thinking the same thing... the miss on the 10 pin was definitely a shoe/slide issue..

I hated my Dexters for a long time because I couldn't get the heel right.. Only thing that allowed me to use them is I polished the heck out of the Tridex heel with some high grit polishing powder..red heel too slick and tridex to sticky..

I bought a pair of the Etonic ESS interchangeables and I will say that so far the fixed heel that they use is pretty great.. I am super picky with my slide and I was able to put these shoes right on with the S8 sole and just bowl like nothing was different.. Used them at 4 different houses and haven't found an issue.. I would still love the option to switch though just in case..

The Stabilite plus heel was different and I didn't like as much.. didn't like the shoe as much either...

They just screwed up their line of bowling shoes from the beginning.. with the shoes leaving tacky rubber on the approaches, to the failure of the VHA heel system..I really like the fit and feel of their shoes on the approach though..

I'm not sure about the SST8s now that they have changeable push off soles and heels but I was always impressed with the etonic push off shoe.. very solid and stable.  My SST6 heel is squishy and slick..same with the 3gs.. I could feel them slip a bit while I walked.. I would always rough it up with some 80 grit sandpaper every couple of weeks so it would have  little more grip..
like I said .. I don't know what it is but this is the first time a shoe "just works" for me.

The SST 8's have been great for me. I had been wearing 6's for a while and i used the red heel alot on my 6's so it was worn quite a bit. I had a little bit of a problem with the new red heel on the 8's so i switched the old heel from the 6 to the 8 and they are nice now.

I still have most of my old heels from my 6's, so i have options to make my 8's slide perfect. They are great shoes, my only complaint is it took a while to break them in.

Come on people...if the shoes are that bad that they are messing with his footing...how is he making the show in the first place?

It's not the shoes....he's getting on TV and making bad shots.

Maybe the shoes don't give him as much margin of error with his balance and if he is toe or heel heavy a little too much it messes up his slide..

I actually wondered what it is about the TV pair, because there always seems to be somebody with footing issues after lighting up enough all week to make the show in the first place?

im guessing it has something to do with the lighting.  heat usually always creates more tacky approaches

I have sst 8's I got them as soon as they came out last year. I have had every pair of SST's since 4's came out. I have found out what sole/heel combo I need and I usally just start with that one when I get them out. It took me awhile to do it but I fiqured it out. my friends have told me to get Etonic or the 3G ones but I am all dexter and always be.

3G's are by the nicest I have worn and have a good amount of sole/heel options
for everyone that is having heel options look the adjust a heel heel piece
I have it on my 3G's after I was having huge sliding problems with my Dexters not being able to come up with the right heel/sole combination
