Malott on PTI...
« on: February 20, 2009, 12:41:15 PM »
I didn't catch it but on the Xtra Frames telecast they are talking about it. Did anyone catch it? And how do you feel about Mike Wilbon tearing into him about not bowling this week?

I personally like that the PBA got some exposure and publicity through it but I just don't agree with how Wilbon came across on it.

PTI - Feb. 20, 2009

I saw it, listened to it again just now. I didn't think anything bad was said.

They both came off as somewhat ignorant about bowling.  They compared it to golf, and how you can just lengthen a course to make it tougher, but said that there is nothing you can do in bowling.  They are not familiar with oil.

They also acted like scores were enormously higher now than they were 20 years ago.  Reali corrected them at the end of the show though, stating that the PBA average in 1980 was 215 compared to the current average of 224.

Holy cow people, it was mild. Wilbon pretty much wondered why Malott didn't go out there and show he was the best and Tony threw in a couple points but acknowledged that his bowling knowledge was slim to none. That was it.

Belmonte made the face time of Woody Paige on Around the Horn too but you could tell Woody knew as much about Belmo and the two handed delivery as Kornheiser did about bowling.
