Title: Max Bob
Post by: tonybowls on February 18, 2006, 11:22:58 AM
Smith finally makes it!! It's gonna be a great show. I really feel for Devaney who was in the top 4 since the beginning of match play. 2 years in a row he comes up just short. Go R Smith!!!!

I'm sort of surprised that all these crankers (OK, really high rev) guys made the show. All righties also. Interesting.

Any chance the PBA will re-oil after practice and before the show???
(Just to insure they all start out on even footing,so to speak.)

that's only reason these guys made the show....WHY WOULD PBA RE-OIL...it would defeat the purpose....duh

yes..your right...touchy subject though...since lefty's generally get shut out...and it happened again...

this pattern favors those who "rip" it...after the right side gets a "hole" blown in it...

let me tell you somthing, the crowd today was going NTUS for robert smith. We all knew he had a chance to make the show, and in the last match play round, the crowd was getting fired up every time he let go of the ball. he got that last strike to put him in the show and he got a standing ovation. cant wait to see him tomorrow...im sitting in section C.

It would defeat what purpose?

I was serious. They can practice all they want, but by re-oiling, it would restore the condition to the what it was before they blew holes in it. Because by the time the show starts, one hour (or whatver it now is) of practice by 4 crankers and the oil pattern is nowhere nearwhat it was. It is even different from what they bowled on all wweek. Small wonder the leader or even the number 2 qualifier is almost always confused by the time he bowls.

Remember Jeff.....anytime someone doesn't strike for $100,000 it is choking.  Since everyone on these message boards could obviously do it.

On the other hand anyone else think Smith's new game looks very smooth?  I think the changes he has made are very positive.  He will win a lot more now.

Oh yeah sorry! Drrev, do you mean his last shot ?!  Sure! Like all of his shots EXCEPT for that one were dead flush?!  give me a break!

Jabs, I thought he looked smoother because he's slower......

matter of opinion.

They allow everything; so that's not a factor.

wow...look at those numbers and matches on tv...

on the "toughest" pattern...

compared to previous (2) shows...

that pattern must transition to get a decent scorable shot....

and you must swing the lane...

so they would not re-oil...POINT MADE

HOWEVER...on tv show were there is a difference between right vs left players...ie...3/1 or 1/3....think they should re-dress fresh...but oh well
