Classic!!  I don't think that I've ever seen a more simple, basic style.

Hey guys, here's proof that you don't have to twist the bejazus out of the ball and cover every board.  I don't know if Mike has that in his game, but what he showed Sunday was just fine in my book.

honestly, i cant stand the way he threw the ball.  Not the lack of revs, or the line he plays, but there was something i really didnt like about his game.

The fact that Norm pointed out that the only line Minneman plays is up the boards from outside made me really not want him to win.

Im sure hes a nice guy, & its a great accomplishment that everyoen wishes to achieve some day, but i just cant be excited about a guy who only plays the lanes 1 way, & doesnt move.

I was rooting for Mineman also because I thought it would be cool to see someone with his style beat the current exempt bowlers.  Didn't he beat Tommy Jones in match play?

I agree. Almost like a right-handed lefty imo, but he won and thats all that matters

Fluff, he did beat Jones in the Round of 32. He then beat Eugene McCune in the Round of 16 and I believe he beat Billy Oatman in the Round of 8 if I am not mistaken. An interesting note here, McCune beat Norm Duke 4-3 and Mineman would have faced Duke if he haad won his first match. It would have been interesting to see these two guys playing the outside line to the pocket.

I have been to St. Claire Lanes and have been in Mineman's pro shop numerous times as I have taken a few lessons with my bowling coach at St. Claire. He is a very nice person.

I am forced to be like him because my left knee is totally shot, he might bowl this way from being hobbled like me. I have adapted a forward roller style of ball motion from not being able to play inside unless the lane allows me too.

Sometimes you gotta go with what works for your body, i have been coached by some the best in the world including at least 80 hours with Billy Hall. I see nothing wrong with Mineman's style it is not boom it out and watch it come back. That is what every young guy likes to do and see, rarely do i see a younger guy just play it up the boards and not try to boom the ball.

If I remember correctly, wasn't it Dave Ryan who asked Mike if he would play a different shot??  I don't believe Mike was limited to one line, but that's what he decided on.

Now, let's look at a past post of yours, http://www.ballreviews.com/Forum/Replies.asp?TopicID=153612&ForumID=86&CategoryID=5.

In there you commented:

I cant wait for robert smith to come back, & for TJ to get his stuff together & make a couple shows again.

With TJ, was it stated somewhere that he said he will only play one thing on TV, that being a 'crank the poo out of the ball' style?  Yet....you'll be pulling for TJ?

Just doesn't sound the same if you ask me.

The Traber brothers I can understand.  They primarily play their strong point.  But if Minneman has other games and opted for this 'A' game because he felt that to be his best shot, then he did what he had to do and reaped the rewards for it.  Machuga went with what he thought was his best.  Better man that got the job won for the game....end of story.

You guys are pathetic.

Mineman is a good player who knows his strongpoints and weakpoints.

Remember Kelly Coffman!!!!!!
Massive revs.
No Titles!!!!!!

This guy went out there and lived it.
Nobody bashed Sean rash last year.

Why???
Because he's got revs.

Nobody ever bashed Butch Soper for straighter is greater.

Mineman played the lanes to his strength.

Are we forgetting also that Mineman isn't a young kid either.  I watched him and it looked as if he had terrible timing, but he kept the ball online most of the time..and he WON....so who cares how he did it...he did it.

Not hating on Mineman, but this is the reason why a lot of people prefer more revs, crazy action, and power.  You can see that standard approach in any house league anywhere in the world.  I want to see stuff most humans can't do like Robert Smith or Tommy Jones.  The fact that bowling is only about scoring makes it possible to be very straight or hook it a lot.  You can say the same thing with any sport.  Like football, you can win all the time and just build your team around defense (the Bears).  Or you can have a super high powered offense, much more watcable (the Chargers).  Overall, I didn't like Mineman's delivery or style at all.  I don't hate that way of bowling though.  I like Norm Duke, WRW, and Brian Voss.  Not sure if ball reaction gets straighter than theirs but I feel they have much better styles.

He is a great guy. He has drilled a few balls for me. Great service in the shop also.

Just in case anyone looks, he cashed the previous week. That is more than most, if not all, of us can say. Is he really exciting to watch.... no. But he made the shots and I am pretty sure that he scored the best in both his matches.

And I think that he had the best match play record for the week..

Good Job, Mike!! Good luck at the US Open!
