Title: Mike Wolfe...
Post by: Mvpbowler on October 08, 2007, 08:01:33 AM
What a year so far!

Makes the show at the Japan Cup cashing for $26,000 and 2nd place

Then this past weekend wins the Panama Invitation tournament for $40,000, plus a $3,000 bonus for the King of the Hill

Off to a great start for the new year! Cashes for almost $70,000 before the actual Tour starts.

Congrats Mike!

About two weeks.  This weekend, 10/14, is the finals of the Women's US Open.  The Masters starts the next week, with the finals on the 21st.

Good for Him!! He's a Great bowler but because he dosent get much exposure nobody knows it! I hope he wins a few this year, it's his time to shine this year like Tony did Last year.

I like seeing new people on the show, or guys that only make a show every other year.  But Mike Wolfe is like a walking valium.  I like the way he bowls, he seems like he's becoming a more versatile, well-rounded bowler, but he's got no presence.  KVK announces the guys coming out at the start of the show and you've got PB3 and Barnes tossing towels into the audience, Brad Angelo and PDW pointing to their sponsor patches, and Mike Wolfe walking through the arch onto the lanes like his dog just died.  C'mon, man, act like you're having fun.

Thanks for the kind words and support from everyone,I greatly appreciate it!! the gamebreakers have rolled pretty good for a couple weeks, hopefully for 20 more.
shelly - sorry i'm not excited by your standards when i make tv,perhaps the guys you mentioned are more comfortable on tv after over 100 appearances, or maybe you missed me giving the 5 year old a ball when i came out for the albany show? if i make a show this year, i'll see if i can find some things to give away, cause that shows excitement. and my dog is still alive thank god
my best to all of you!

i think it's safe to assume that mike is a very underrated player. he's good enough to have won several national titles and is an exempt player-----that's great by my standards. as far as his demeanor, well the world needs more guys to act like him instead of looking like a  jack***

Hey, he even posts here too . .  Yeah, like watching him bowl quite a bit.  Come to think of it, I'm not sure how I'd act my first few times on tv either, with not many people knowing me, etc.  I don't think Brad or even Sean Rash did a whole lot their first few times on the show.  It's kinda weird though, if he would have done things like throwing towels and getting excited on the show, people might have made fun of him, or made certain comments, but if he's too reserved, that gets comments too.  Hope you make a few shows this year Mike, I'm a fan!

Could not agree with you more Greg. Just bowl, let that do the talking. I think one of the dumbest things I saw was the PBA's finishing work promo, WTF?

All too true.  Like all things in life, no matter what you do, somebody will always think you're doing it wrong!

Best of luck this season, Mike.  Keep representing the New Albany/Louisville bowling community well!

Mike is a great bowler and a great seller of equipment.  It figures someone would rip him for not coming out with a crotch chop.  Keep it up, Mike, it's your time.

Mike glad to see you posting on br. We can be a little rough around the edges but most are pretty diehard bowling fans. Got to ask, what and who brought you around from your early style (bent arm, more horizontal hook shapes) to your newer game? I know the last few years you have excelled on the patterns playing straighter.

lefty-
Chad Murphy was instrumental in the changes, we spent many an hours in the columbia300 test center when i was on staff, it took a long time, (mainly cause i'm a slow learner!) but has definetly been for the better. I still spend some time with him before the tour season starts, he's by far one of the best.

I have met Chad a few times and even helped him find some old Tour bosses for Steelsmith in Albany one year for the night block. Hope you do well and don't be a stranger here.
