Most Boring Bowling
« on: February 24, 2008, 04:14:35 AM »
The topic says it all , the whole show was the most boring that I can ever remember watching, before someone says well these are pros and this was a very tough pattern I know all of that. How does one expect people to get interested enough in bowling with the program today, it sure will not bring in any new fans . I know before you say it I couldn't have done as well on that pattern as they did, however they are pros not me. This is not a put down on the pros it was just a boring show all around except for Frawley he did give us a little show

What do you expect from a bunch of 40+ pros?

Those 40+ pros were the only ones capable of making TV this week, so that means they bowled better than everyone else, regardless of age.

Duke being ill on the show had to give the other bowlers something to think about... other than the lanes and ball reaction.

Quite the tactic, too bad it didn't work for Oatman last week though.

(No, I'm not being that serious, but you never know.  Being ill on tour can't make the job any easier)

fascinating post.

what I mean is I don't give a crap if you were bored. I liked it. Big scores don't mean crap to anyone; if you're under the delusion that it will bring more fans in, get real - it won't. If they're not watching now, no one going to tell them the scores were high, go watch it next week.

I don't know what they latest numbers are, but the numbers have been high for a long time. The prolem is numbers do not count. Only the right number of the correct type of people for the advertisers' dollar is what counts and bowling will NEVER, EVER have it. Get used to it. This has been gone over and over and over AND OVER. Nothing will change.

An excess of striking in the 80s and 90s is what destroyed the tour.  It got to the point where there was no credibility.

Then maybe the tour is just doomed then.  Because people don't want to see strike after strike, and they complain when the scores are low!!!!

Funny when the guys were throwing bee bee's at the headpin and leaving 4 ten pins per game in the 60s noone seemed to mind....even into the 70s and early 80s.  Resin comes out...scores go through the roof....people stop watching.

I agree brotha!  It was so boring I didn't even bother making a thread on it.  The first match was the only one that I was interested in but that Aussie guy bowled like an amateur (which he was) but it was pretty exciting compared to the rest of the show.  Then they got Ryan Shaffer for the championship which is total boredom since 99% of all bowlers DO NOT bowl, release, or rotate the ball like he does.  WRW threw the same split in 2 of the first 3 frames of his game and only bowled 180.  Overall, this week sucked!

1 out of 5 stars.

Does WRW not have any other Morich ball he can use on TV? The last few times on TV, the N'Sane Lev RG has not looked very good. He leaves alot of flat 10's with that ball.... His ball reaction today was horrible..

I would think he would change to another ball if the N'sane wasn't working.. I know Mo wants the latest and greatest on TV, but..

Is it sport you want to see or the Ice Capades? They aren't out there to give you a "show"; they're out there to knock down more pins than the other guy...I swear, I think so-called fans are the absolute worst part of sports...

I actually like shows like today. It shows that even pros can't hit and carry at free will. Today it looked like they actually had to be perfect. I would not say that WRW lost I would say that Norm shut him out. Listen to what Randy said about the line Norm was using. He went a little left of WRW to use up WRW pull area. SMART bowling by Norm. Let's see these guys execute every ball and not be able to just throw the ball down the lane and strike.
