Sounds like a great event, however, I for one would like for them to show how the bowlers were picked. On what basis did they qualify to bowl in it. There are some left out that should be there, & some bowling that didn't seem to merit being picked.

Actually, now that I looked at the list again, I see only one who should be replaced by any number of others.

You'd want to say it's a points thing, but there are several in the top 16 that aren't participating (Shafer, Scroggins, Devaney, Tommy Delutz, ) and several outside the top 16 that are (Smith, Oatman, Koivuniemi, Wiseman).  The matchups are random looking, except that all four lefties are paired up, there are no lefty-righty pairs.  No one's said anything about a fan vote like the Roll to Riches, either.

The article wasn't on the front page last I looked, you can get it here.

Pete Weber and Sean Rash
Robert Smith and Tony Reyes
Doug Kent and Danny Wiseman
Tommy Jones and Wes Malott
Norm Duke and Walter Ray Williams Jr.
Jason Couch and Billy Oatman
Chris Barnes and Mika Koivuniemi
Patrick Allen and Parker Bohn III

i have several questions about this event as well. does this house have synthetic lanes....does anyone know ?  i wonder why they are using the scorpion pattern ? a fairer test would have been the christmas tree type pattern they used the last year on abc-tv. you were able to play from multiple angles, righty or lefty was the same, and very little room for error.

It looks like they picked their own partners.

That would explain why WRW and PDW weren't paired up.

That'd be a helluva match to watch, though.  WRW/PDW vs Duke/Shafer, winner taking on Mika/PA.

This event is being held outside so i would
believe the lanes are being trucked in.
I would guess the same type of lanes the
pba uses in there arena events.

If I was an exempt member I would rather they put that money back into the tournament prize funds rather than just for a select few.

Limited competition, gaurentteed payday.

And it is not even real bowling the way they are scoring it. No max score, keep striking till you quit in the tenth.

It would be possible to be behind a 100 pins going in the tenth and then throw enough strikes to steal the game away.

Obsviously bowling on TV stinks as they continue to basstardize the game to try and get people to watch.

The PBA is doing events like this and the Roll to Riches to get people interested again into watching bowling.  Thats is probably why they pick most of the fan favorites. I think that this will be a very interesting event, I give PDW an advantage because hes use to bowling with sunglasses.  Just kidding.  I think it will be a ton of fun to watch and I think it is a great idea for the PBA.

I don't know why some of you are getting so bent over this.  It's just a fun event... Kinda like the All-Star games in other sports and the Pro Ams in golf.  The fans vote for the participants in other sports and they probably would have done that for bowling but there isn't enough fans(Lol) so they picked what they though would be some of the favorites.
